09/4/2017 14:54 | Very informative post and worth revisiting. The key point you are all missing is this one: "Surface textures (microdisks and hillocks) indicate slight resorption of the diamond during transport in the kimberlite magma from its ultimate source 150km or deeper in the Earth, to the Earth’s surface and could indicate hypabyssal kimberlite-type magmatic rock." The vast majority of kimberlite pipes do not contain diamonds because they are resorbed during transport from the mantle to the surface due to the presence of oxygen in the magma that results in the diamonds, which let's face it are only bits of carbon, being resorbed into the melt. The fact that this little tiddler has survived with only "slight resorption" means that this new pipe, wherever it is, is an absolutely prime target for the next phase of exploration and is likely to be highly diamondifereous. KDR must be grinning from ear to ear. | diamond hunter
09/4/2017 12:34 | The news that the Riihivaara kimberlite which we have discovered is likely to be diamondiferous is exciting news. It is very encouraging for our diamond exploration programme in Finland, which we believe has the potential to become a new diamond province – the first in Europe outside Russia” Province massive statement April 2016 | diamond hunter

04/4/2017 14:37 | If anyone is interested. This is a brief summary of the exploration stages involved in the discovery of a diamond deposit in glaciated terrains: hxxp://www.geologyfo During research I came across Charles E. Fipke and his exploration success story: ...''In 1988, Fipke and partner Stu Blusson began a systematic search for diamonds in the Northwest Territories, leading to the discovery of the first diamond pipe in North America in November 1991 near Lac de Gras. The Ekati Diamond Mine is now located there.[5][8][9] Fipke maintained a 10% interest in Ekati until 2014, when he sold his share to Dominion Diamond Corp. for US$67 million.[2] "I'm not really a miner," he said. "I'm an exploration geologist. This sale gives me more ability to do exploration''... | lipov
02/4/2017 15:58 | …Karelian Diamond Resources (LON:KDR, 0.52p) – Speculative Buy Karelian Diamond Resources, the diamond exploration company focused on Finland, announced yesterday a 100 metre extension to the NW of the existing Riihivaara kimberlite body, which remains open to the NW, SE and at depth. The extension is based on results from a series of till samples taken along trend NW of the known kimberlite body and showed high concentrations of KIMs (kimberlite indicator minerals). Garnet analyses and low chromite grain counts suggest that the Riihivaara kimberlite is the source for the KIMs. Further analysis by scanning electron microscopy will focus on classifying the KIMs. Our view: The Riihivaara kimberlite continues to show positive mineral chemistry results for diamonds and its extent continues to grow from its initial 250m extent. Numerous G9 and G10 harzburgitic garnets present in the samples are encouraging given their strong compositional and pressure- temperature association with diamonds and are thought to be produced within the diamond stability field. The above results combined with the recent discovery of a diamond within a till sample adds to the prospectivity of the Kuhmo region. As such, we reiterate a Speculative Buy on the stock If your wondering Harzburgite, an ultramafic, igneous rock, is a variety of peridotite consisting mostly of the two minerals, olivine and low-calcium (Ca) pyroxene (enstatite); it is named for occurrences in the Harz Mountains of Germany. It commonly contains a few percent chromium-rich spinel as an accessory mineral. Garnet-bearing harzburgite is much less common, found most commonly as xenoliths in kimberlite. Harzburgite typically forms by the extraction of partial melts from the more pyroxene-rich peridotite called lherzolite. The molten magma extracted from harzburgite may then erupt on the surface as basalt. If partial melting of the harzburgite continues, all of the pyroxene may be extracted from it to form magma, leaving behind the pyroxene-poor peridotite called dunite. Harzburgite may also form by the accumulation of olivine and low-Ca pyroxene in large magma chambers of basalt deep in continental crust (layered intrusions). | diamond hunter
01/4/2017 13:53 | Mining Terms Kimberlite A brecciated ultrabasic igneous rock containing phlogopite mica, bronzite pyroxene and ilmenite; kimberlites may or may not contain diamonds. Carat (ct.) A unit used to weigh diamonds. The international metric carat is 200mg. Diamondiferous containing diamonds Microdiamond analysis A laboratory process whereby small samples of kimberlite can be completely digested leaving only a residue of diamonds, usually microscopic in size. By relating the number and size of micro-diamonds to the sample weight and comparison to distribution curves, an estimate of the possible macrodiamond grade of the sampled kimberlite can be made. Kimberlite Indicator Minerals (“KIM’s& There are specific varieties of minerals which are unique to kimberlites, among which pyrope garnet, ilmenite and chrome diopside are commonly used by exploration geologists to find buried kimberlites. KIM stream or loam sampling involves taking a large sample and then concentrating out the heavy minerals which are examined under a microscope – any KIM’s are picked out and counted. | diamond hunter
01/4/2017 13:19 | Riihivaarä The results of samples collected in an (up-ice)!! direction from the kimberlite body returned low counts of chromite grains indicating that the Riihivaara kimberlite body is the probable source of the KIMs. Lahtojoki diamond mine Dr. O’Brien comments “The discovery of a diamond in a till exploration sample is an (extremely rare event.)!!! Such a (significant )!!result identifies this new target as a high priority for follow-up work.” | diamond hunter
01/4/2017 13:09 | Fast Tracked The company believes it has potential to become profitable open pit diamond mine. The Lahtojoki diamond mine project benefits significantly by being well located with water and grid power available. The company will take a phased approach to developing a mine, which will include re-modelling the diamondiferous pipe together with a re-assessment of the microdiamond data available. The company further states that the Riihivaarä Kimberlite Body previously discovered is likely to be diamondiferous. Professor Richard Conroy, Chairman of Karelian Diamond Resources plc commented: “The acquisition of the Lahtojoki diamond pipe Mining Permit, together with these encouraging results relating to its potential, complement our existing licences and are a major step forward for our diamond program in Finland.” The exploration company was established in 2005 has delineated the largest diamond pipe so far found in Finland at Seitaperä, dicovered a new kimberlite body at Riihivaara and acquired a mining permit over the Lahtojoki diamond deposit. Karelian focuses on the Finnish side of an Archean Craton which hosts Alrosa’s Lomonosova and Lukoil’s Grib mines in Russia. Karelian and its partner Rio Tinto are searching for something similar in Finland. In 2014 Karelian signed a confidentiality agreement with back-in rights with Rio Tinto. In return for Rio disclosing confidential information to Karelian, Rio has the right to earn 51% in any of Karelian’s projects in return for funding construction of a mine i.e. if any of Karelian’s projects end up being built by Rio, Karelian retains a 49% free carried interest to production. This agreement has been extended to 2020. | diamond hunter

31/3/2017 15:27 | Hi all managed to buy another 600000 shares would of liked more before news but that's me all out of funds until I can sell more of another share that improves. well done SH you have a good holding puts my 2m in the shade.GLA | emblaze1
30/3/2017 23:06 | Lets concentrate on the share price for a minute as that's the thing that all shareholders are interested in. Thanks to Steve and Alan who are putting their money right behind this company they have taken out 8% of the issued share capital and the share price hasn't moved and remains as weak as dish water so the question is Professor Conroy what exactly is going on ?Market makers cant keep on selling millions of shares at 0.5p if they don't have them ,the answer is they do have them so my question is where is the source. | catswhiskas

29/3/2017 13:33 | On Riihivaara, if we get another rns regarding geochemical analysis of samples obtained by Karelian, carried out by Rio Tinto in their labs in Australia, we can assume 1. Rio are still paying, which is unheard of and a massive signal2. Riihivaara is still high priority for Rio TintoI personally think the penny will drop for many at that stage. | goldeneye5

28/3/2017 16:16 | Even though the holdings RNSs of today and yesterday do virtually little to the SP,they take out of circulation a decent chunk of available freefloat into hands stuck with superglue. As of today, the official number of shares not in public hands stands at over a third. Factor into this, the multiples of PIs holding 1% upwards and that figure races past half of all shares. I know personally of much more than a dozen investors who hold 1% minimum and they too won't be letting these shares go until production starts or the inevitable takeover happens. Seriously folks, all this is waiting for is the news on the Lahtojoki upgrade in acreage combined by the remodelling plans, then Lahtojoki goes into production. Add to the mix,the news of Riiihvaara diamondiferous confirmation (a given in many clues up people's books) and this will start to progress and push on at a very steady rate of knots. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see in the meantime one or two Roald Dahl types of news.......hohoho... Nice to see the inclusion and updated information on the website of our consultant geologists Michael Brennan and Egbert Gerryts. Egbert is a specialist in deposit evaluation for both kimberlite and alluvial deposits. He pioneered the use of indicator and geophysics in diamond exploration... Folk will and should understand now why our "meaningless" news on indicators is now so important. Egbert is no mug, as shown by de beers having him as a resident geologist. Same with Mike Brennan, who is now focused on extending his career into project operations and development... I know it's a much used cliche but every clue is being given in the time honoured black and white......... When the main news items land, it may be too late to garner shares on the cheap as it will be marked up accordingly.... Always said build, and the savvy are certainly doing that.. Good luck to all who recognise and spot the clues given. Merely time and patience as always. | keysersosse
28/3/2017 14:45 | That's a serious holding for Mr.Osborne Good on him :) I'd certainly add more if I could too | them0se
