21/7/2014 15:07 | Just reading Treasury doc on retirement. Tax rules re annuities to be changed to allow annuities: - to decrease income - to payout lump sums - to offer guarantee periods of more than 10 years (allowing more people to inherit capital) - then payments from guarantees can be paid as lump sums rather than monthly payments as present All of these could make annuities quite a lot more attractive and smaller annuitiy companies should be able to make system changes before APril. Death of annuities looks even more exaggerated IMHO | 18bt
21/7/2014 09:45 | A report in the FT today is apparantly saying George's pension reforms will see the annual allowance for people taking their TFC after April 2015 fall to £10k from current £40k.. If that's confirmed then why won't a lot of people take their TFC this year and likely pop the rest in say a 1-yr FTA with... JR or LV???? | scrapheap
20/7/2014 15:24 | Govt annuity consultation out tomorrow according to today's papers. Sounds like could be some interesting surprises. | 18bt
17/7/2014 13:31 | Reliance Mutual is pulling out of the enhanced annuity market - their smoker annuity had historically seen them take some business from PA and JRG in my experience... one less competitor therefore in this space. | scrapheap

04/7/2014 10:28 | hello melody9999, hope we didn't speak too soon :-) (in at 144p here) | rathlindri
03/7/2014 22:40 | yes! in at 140p. I consider this and PA to be 2 of my safest investments as I remain convinced that the majority of people will still want the security of an annuity. The share price has got stuck at 150p before so now we seem to be through that, it may be that we will rise further. | melody9999
03/7/2014 20:08 | A pleasing rise here today. Is anyone else invested? | rathlindri
12/6/2014 08:46 | Bad news - broker lowers price target Good news - price target was pre-Budget 295p now a mere 237p post-Budget, retains buy status. | scrapheap
04/6/2014 10:38 | A couple of senior management appointments doesn't suggest a firm shrinking away... | scrapheap
02/6/2014 14:49 | I wondered if this group pension thing to be announced in the Queens Speech might unnerve some but PA isn't showing the same. Guessing the big trades earlier were sales... | scrapheap
02/6/2014 14:16 | What's the story? Heard anything? | rathlindri
02/6/2014 13:20 | This isn't looking too clever today.... | scrapheap
30/5/2014 16:51 | Annuity Line is cutting jobs but it's reporting 50% drop in sales... I see that as the floor not the ceiling for the actual market shrinkage. Annuity Line chief executive David Slater says the company has already cut 12 roles from its administration function and is reviewing the remaining 55 positions within the business. He says: "The Budget announcement shocked the entire industry and as a result we are reviewing the products we sell. Annuity sales are down by about 50 per cent since the Budget but I believe that, in the long-term, there will still be demand for secure retirement income products. | scrapheap
30/5/2014 16:48 | Honestly trade reporting = waste of time, it's just confusing. So a good day clearly and yet a UT trade summarises a 1.25 million plus transaction seemingly well below market price after the COB which is an aggregate trade but was it a buy or sell.... or was it a buy order over the course of the week which is now reported. | scrapheap
30/5/2014 11:54 | Nice, steady gains | rathlindri
30/5/2014 10:59 | Wow - a 63k share '0' but at 157p.... that's well over market price... someone's keen or be done! | scrapheap
29/5/2014 09:02 | The key bit from that hilton article being the end for us: The most likely outcome therefore is that there will be a tide of innovation, much of it probably led by providers such as Partnership Assurance and Just Retirement - two firms which have been among the worst fallers on the stock market after the Chancellor's announcement. Contrary to popular opinion their world has not come to an end, even if it will take them some time to claw their way back. | scrapheap
