08/5/2014 15:33 | I believe the share price should rise if the annuities sales drop is 40% or smaller. as it brings more certainty and shows that the business is currently undervalued. I also believe that 'should' is not always true with the market, so am not willing to put my money down at this point. HH | hawkhybrid
08/5/2014 15:00 | Hasn't the share price already reflected a similar percentage fall? | rathlindri
08/5/2014 14:49 | didn't l&g reduce some of it's annuities workforce? update 12th may I think. shareholders need to work out before the update what they expect to happen to the share price if, let's say the annuities sales dropped a similar 40% to l%g's. HH | hawkhybrid
07/5/2014 08:04 | Legal & General (L&G) saw its individual annuity sales drop 40% in the first quarter of the year, with sales down from £406m in 2013 to £244m. | scrapheap
06/5/2014 10:07 | Share trade reporting is a mystery to me... share prices edging lower to 161.5p / 162.5p and then suddenly a 'o' 50k trade at 165p goes through at 10.03am. Is it a trade from an hour ago which is actually a sale but delayed 1 hour reporting or is it a genuine immediate buy well above the now reduce price range... | scrapheap
06/5/2014 08:34 | Trading update is this coming Monday, 12th May, I believe... I wonder what the market is pricing in for its expectations, clearly it's not going to be great news but how much has it discounted for what is an inevitable (hoped for) short term business hit post Budget? | scrapheap
02/5/2014 07:36 | I am. So far this week, 2 clients buying enhanced annuities for life, 1 buying a FTA for 5 years and 1 buying a FTA for 1 year. None using the flex. drawdown option and wouldn't even if the min. income floor was already gone. Something not covered by the press is that the flexible drawdown option which is now for people with min income of £12k pa (was £20k pa) and is set to remove any min income requirement from next April - as the rules stand today, your annual allowance = £0pa for the rest of your life. If that doesn't change, then it means you effectively can't pay in to any pension once you've taken all your money out of any 1 pension pot through that flex drawdown route - that's a big problem in my book. | scrapheap
01/5/2014 16:32 | More views to suggest the market did over-react... Hold the obituary, plenty of life left in the old annuity yet | scrapheap
01/5/2014 15:47 | HH - you are right, I'm finding JR more competitive than Partnership for my various clients currently. | scrapheap
01/5/2014 15:42 | I agree mostly with the article. I don't like this line however : 'I still mildly prefer Partnership to Just Retirement, mainly on valuation grounds.' just because it has dropped more, it doesn't mean it's better value. it feels like they're stubbornly sticking to their guns. despite the fact that by their actions jrg have probably made investors more confident in holding onto their shares, hence the better rally. each company should be credited by it's individual merits. I'm out now, whilst jrg could still rise further it may take much longer for them to do so. most importantly it'll take a more capable person than me to increase my profits from here. good luck all HH | hawkhybrid
01/5/2014 14:25 | Looking good here the last week or so. I have an enhanced annuity with JRG and can't fault them. Happy to be invested, luckily, after the budget!! | rathlindri
01/5/2014 13:11 | I agree with that article.... | scrapheap
01/5/2014 12:55 | Nice write up in money week. | cthompso
30/4/2014 22:12 | May 12th 7am is in my diary - trading update due then I believe. | scrapheap
30/4/2014 21:59 | pinch of salt required here. it was submitted before the budget announcement. all it's saying is that jrg can pay dividends should they have reason to and doesn't imply any changes to the current situation/outlook. I think it's still watch and see what happens. HH | hawkhybrid
30/4/2014 14:13 | Agreed and Std Life are bog standard annuity providers really, not enhanced annuity ones... I'd have thought that bog standard would be worse hit in % reduction of business. | scrapheap
30/4/2014 12:08 | bit of a mixed bag, whilst the 50% drop is less than the 65%+ predicted by some, it's still a big drop. I'm thinking that the initial period following the budget announcement would be most volatile and could be the worst case scenario as people digest what the new budget means for them individually. unless people have a good use for all their pension money in one go, I still think at least part of it in an annuity is the sensible way to go. HH | hawkhybrid
30/4/2014 08:31 | Standard Life annuity sales fall 50% following Budget | scrapheap
29/4/2014 14:16 | MGM job cuts with comments from JRG and PA. Just Retirement, which issued an annuity sales warning earlier this month, would not comment on the potential for future job cuts. Just Retirement customer insight director Stephen Lowe says: "It is too early to predict how consumers and advisers will change their behaviour as a result of the Budget. We are keeping a close eye on progress and we will update the market as and when we make any firm decisions." Partnership director of corporate affairs Jim Boyd says: "It is too early to assess the impact of the Budget on consumers and advisers. "Clearly we will need to a close eye on the situation and if we do make any decision we will be very clear about that." | scrapheap
29/4/2014 13:16 | Anecdote from coalface - 3 clients. 2 today taking enhanced annuities and 1 taking a 1-year fixed term annuity. All with JR as offering the best deals for each of them. | scrapheap
25/4/2014 13:37 | Positive outlook from one of the brokers. http://www.cityam.co | poppabear4u
