Well, that Reddit froth on silver (PHSP/PHAG) went as quickly as it came; but unfortunately I didn't sell a few into the rise. They're now back where they should be; but ready to move ahead again with or without the Reddit crowd.

Steppe Cement having a bit of a move today and so getting interesting from a chart perspective. Resistance around the level it has moved to today at 37p with next target around the 5 year high at around 43.5p. Divi looking like it will be between 3-4p for this year and so still a good yielder and it was business as usual during the pandemic.

DGOC has also been strong the last few days and is now at the upper end of its trading range and so hopefully it can press on and establish a new range.

Sold AEWU yesterday at a smidge over 85p as the discount has narrowed and RSI quite elevated. Added more to IMB as RSI has dropped back considerably and wanted to replace the AEWU income.

Sorry to read that Gary; like selling the day before a bid!

Silver - PHSP - up to c2015 this morning. The really interesting thing to see is what happens when the US opens up this afternoon...

I cannot believe I sold HOC at £2.11 on Friday morning to move to safer waters and top up my holding in IMB after a 10% pullback there. £2.70 this morning and over £6k of lost profit in one trading day.

Enjoy the ride up in the silver price sky, it will be interesting to see how far the Wallsreetbets crowd can take it and if they can create a short squeeze.

A little light reading for a wet Sunday. Everybody should be holding a position in SILVER:

Papy - we should have acted on your 36 above - PHSP took off soon thereafter.

I think I already hold sufficient due to the roller-coaster ride silver always provides. Not for the faint hearted.

Still, to answer your question directly, I see no reason why PHSP shouldn't replicate the parabolical rise of 2010/11. The recent consolidation also mirrors what happened back then, before it continued to 2800.

So, a little resistance at 2000, a sharp run to 2900.....resistance, then all to play for in new highs. Just a view; but you did ask!

Papy - as you will no doubt be aware, posting an ultra-long URL distorts the page, as indeed it has this time.

Could you please either remove the link to Gamestop, or use Tinyurl to reduce - see link below:

Hadn't heard about a silver squeeze. Would be a pretty mammoth undertaking versus the low cap GME....though admittedly now a rather larger MCap stock :)

Hi Skyship

Just wondered if you are aware of this lot on Reddit starting to execute a short squeeze on the silver market. Could be at minimum a tailwind for silver price/ PHSP? (Pls google - ADVFN is blocking my attempts to post the link. Also pls excuse language in the the Reddit thread!)
THE BIGGEST SHORT SQUEEZE IN THE WORLD $SLV Silver 25$ to 1000$. : wallstreetbets (reddit.com) [...]

This Reddit group have already executed a successful short squeeze on a heavily (around 250%!) shorted stock - google Gamestop GME (I deleted link as was too long so affected your thread width)

I have seen estimates of over 200 times more “paper” silver than physical, so the issuers of that paper are short by around that ratio(?) so are exposed like the banks/hedge-funds shorting GME were . But I don’t know the firepower needed to tackle the silver market, and whether this group can muster it.

I would be interested in your (and others’) take. And your view on silver as an investment at the moment aside from this?

Edit: thanks to Henwil on the AAZ thread for this background link:

Yes I saw that Sky and has to be promising. Price has been strong of late so fingers crossed.

Switched back from AZN to M&G today. Obviously like the yield on M&G but the valuation looks low and small enough to maybe attract some bid interest. RSI has cooled off a fair bit. Hopefully second half trading has gone a bit better than the first.

PRIM's Exec Chairman - Rupert Labrum - yesterday bought 2.8m shares at prices up to c4.09p... His top-up perhaps suggests the outcome of the ongoing Review will support previous valuations. Closed today at 3.95p Bid

Amedeo Air Four Plus LD have declared another interim dividend three months after the last and at an increased level of 1.5p. From the factsheet released the following day the company had the following to say regarding the dividend:

As was announced yesterday, your Board has declared a dividend of 1.5 pence per share to be paid later this month. Whether this can become a routine quarterly event has yet to be determined but your Board is hopeful that it might and a further announcement in this regard will be made once the future for our lessee Thai Airways becomes more certain.

Latest factsheet here:

I am somewhat surprised that they aren't attracting a little speculative interest at 34p given that Emirates, who have leased 2/3 of their planes, have continued to pay and the more optimistic outlook for the dividend.

Nothing wrong with taking 15% in a short timeframe and nice start to the year. As has been observed on the SUPP thread there are some good investments still in there but there is also a lot of not so and who is to say how far they may drag the NAV down or change sentiment. I am worse as I sell too early on the risers and too late on the fallers!!

Today I am glad I added some more HMSO on the dip yesterday.

Well, c15% in haste with SUPP, so took the turn at a surprising 34.5p.

I always sell too soon; then have to search for the next best thing. Still, after over 50yrs of this game, too late now to learn new tricks!

Picked up some HMSO on the pullback today.

SUPP looks interesting but waiting for some dividends to come in this week to add to a little bit of money sat on the account.

Last week I read this in the Christmas edition of Moneyweek – regrettably I always receive my MW rather late over here in France.

Finishing up an article of 6 ITs to BUY, there was an honourable mention of Schroder UK Public Private Trust (SUPP) – the former late unlamented Woodford Patient Capital:

“The shares (they were c26p at the time) still stand at a 44% discount to net assets of £417m. Schroders has now spent a year cleaning up the mess, but manager Tim Creed sees light at the end of the tunnel – “There are some companies that are really good and some that could be great” he says. This requires time-consuming active involvement, helped by Creed no longer being a forced seller. SUPP should turn out to be not so much a Cinderella as a Phoenix”.

I bought some last week; and have added today after the RNS below. The trade sale of this unlisted investment raises the underlying NAV from 43.84p to 49.01p. At 30.75p they are on a discount of 37%, which looks seriously good value considering the Manager’s final comments below.

=========================================================================

On Monday, 11(th) January 2021, Sanofi and Kymab announced that they have entered into a Share and Purchase Agreement ("SPA") under which Sanofi will acquire Kymab for an upfront payment of approximately $1.1 billion and up to $350 million upon achievement of certain milestones.

Based on the terms of the transaction, the Company expects to receive total initial proceeds of GBP65 million(1) on completion of the transaction. An additional amount of up to GBP5 million(1) is subject to potential deductions and a deferred release over the next 24 months. Furthermore, the Company has the potential for additional contingent payments of up to GBP20 million(1) subject to Kymab achieving certain regulatory milestones over a 7 year period.

It is anticipated that the Company's AIFM will revalue the holding, leading to a significant uplift to the latest carrying value of the Company's holding in Kymab which stood at GBP18 million as at 30 September 2020. This will be reflected in the NAV as at 31 December 2020, which is expected to be announced in April 2021.

Tim Creed, portfolio manager of the Company and Schroders' Head of European Private Equity, commented: "We are proud to have supported Kymab and its management team in its exciting journey so far. Simon Sturge and his team have done an outstanding job over the last few years and it is fantastic to see all their hard work culminating in this transaction. Since we took over the investment management of the Company in December 2019, we have had a large team working with the management teams of the Company's portfolio to support their strategic development. This successful divestment is an important milestone for the Company. It demonstrates the high quality of the Company's investments and the increasing strategic value of many of the holdings as they mature. The expected proceeds will help us significantly in our communicated goal to create liquidity for the Company and reposition the portfolio.

We are confident that we will see other similar success stories in the future and remain very positive about the prospects for the Company's portfolio to create long-term shareholder value."

Thank you for flagging up as was distracted with sorting my next medical trial. Joined you @ 1775 with 2/3 of the proceeds from HOC to replace my exposure to PM.

Have a good weekend.
