The country is the loser because we have had 5 different prime ministers, all useless except the one they plotted to get rid if. Sunk is weak and silly livered. Can't wait to see what a debacle it becomes under Labour. Rayner will make a great Foreign Secretary. Just imagine her hobnobbing with leaders of State! Hilarious.

Hunt, a loser remainer. Always reminds me of the Archie Andrews puppet.

Thanks for the info pshevlin.

Regarding JBL yes, I've always understood that the share price balances inline with JLP just the exchange rates makes it hard to see it clearly. JBL closed UP 13.04% so I presume without calculating the difference in exchange rates that it's similar to JLPs close in value.

Fortunately all my pensions ( and my good lady's) are government ones so the Germans can't touch them as they fall under dual taxation laws. All taxed in the UK.

I'm resident in Spain and the cgt is 19% on first 6K
21% from 6K to 50K
23% from 50K onwards
There is no allowance.
I have losses since moving here 5 years ago and I just wish I can get a decent result to offset them against. I was told that the losses I incurred in the UK cannot be brought with you once you become resident here. I'm sure the big boys know of a workaround. I can't see me getting a huge win ever but if I did I'd hire someone in the know.
Personal tax here is a lot more. In the UK I would pay about £900 pa on my pensions but over here I pay £2100 pa as the single personal allowance is nearly half of that in the UK. No regrets though.

But on a positive note, cracking day for JLP. Let's hope it continues. A bit annoying it couldn't have waited a week!

Doesn't JBL have to be reasonably in line with JLP freedom? I assume they are all the same shares. Thats how it works with Amazon etc.

Correct freedom. You can keep an ISA on if you already have it but you can't add to it. You can mess about with the contents though. Tax on gains have to be paid in germany though but each country has its own rules. Allowance for gains is miserable as well. Only around 1k per year. Losses can be carried forward and set against gains. As I said if I made huge gains I would move to the UK for enough time to pay tax there and then move back again with the swag!

sb - Just ADVFN but it's expensive. Have to renew in June so might have to have a look around. I use it whenever I buy anything to get the best price I can so it's useful

Hi Pshev, the reason why I asked was that I heard if you become a permanent resident in Portugal you have to pay 50% of any profit less any losses one might have and I was wondering if other EU countries were the same. That's better 26% but still higher than in the UK if you go over the UK tax allowance (£3,000 from 6 APR).

Am I right in thinking that you are not allowed to open ISA's in the UK because you are a resident in Germany?

Ha Ha - Of course Frog :-)
Good to see some activity in the auction. A few people wanting shares. A chunk matched at 6.3p but the rest waiting in the wings for now. I have no doubt with a bit of volume the handbrake will come off
