From the 2022 annual report, page 54:

Communities
As host communities live in the immediate radius of some of our operations, they are directly exposed to the effects and performance of our operations and as such should and do have a powerful influence over our social licence to operate. We are therefore accountable to host communities to be responsible corporate citizens. Engaging with host communities is important to ensure that they are informed and involved in important decisions likely to affect them and to ensure that they are able to ooperate and participate in the achievement of sustainable benefits during and after our life of operations.

Our actions taken and continued engagement
Prioritising local labour across all areas of our operations
• Investment in water supply projects in host communities to ensure clean water and sanitation
• Providing educational bursaries, skills training and stationary supplies. Procure as many supplies as possible locally. Procurement strategy aligned to upliftment and support of local small and medium enterprise development
• Monitor safety requirements and adherence thereto
• Adhere to environmental regulations

Given the ESG credentials of the business in cleaning up potentially toxic waste and the close involvement with the local communities in terms of local sourcing of supplies and labour (700 local jobs created), I don't think JLP has anything to be concerned about reputationally in S Africa or Zambia and if anything it is considered a shining example of how business can work with impoverished communities to bring enterprise, services and wealth creation to the locals. Frankly, I just don't see what tintin is on about other than to generate a smokescreen behind which to knock the prospects of the company. If anyone gets the blame for poor infrastucture management in SA it will be the government for its massive corruption but do not see how this could refect on JLP.

Won't be good for PR? The minerals are needed, do you honestly think that just operating in a dodgy country will make the slightest difference especially when JLP is actually bringing huge benefits to the population? Red herrings tintin.

kenny, my point was the relevance of the jurisdiction, as illustrated by the article - not necessarily Jubilee specific,(water/power) social unrest is growing in S A and you can't get much more basic human rights than the supply of safe drinking water - after all S A is perceived to be one of the more advanced(?) societies on the continent. Any civil unrest won't be good PR for any company that operates in the jurisdiction. I fully understand that Jubilee have partially mitigated the power/water issues, somewhat belatedly, but I don't think we can ignore the wider issues in the country as a whole.

Tintin .. I take your point .. but I have been given the impression we get continuous supply of electricity and we have our own water supply .. is the supply through a major nearby ? If this is the case then the risk you state simply does not exist but happy to be educated on this so we can all put this to bed once and for all .

JLP has its own water supply now and has in fact been sinking boreholes for local community supplies as well.

I think it's gone quiet merely because of expansion in Zambia tintin. (A stable and west leaning country)

kenny, Overall a good assessment of where we are ATM. though I do feel you down play the jurisdiction risk somewhat, only this morning there are news items appearing about the worsening situation with power supplies associated with chronic concerns over water and health.

I too would love Jubilee to widen their geographical boundaries (global expansion). That's all gone very quite after that barn storming presentation by CB & Leon !!

Thanks for the comments. I will continue to hold as I’ve been in since early days of Tjate and still believe fair value 20p plus will be achieved. Just wish I had exited when we peaked c.25p some time ago 😂

I think if the Copper strategy is announced and started then 20p+ should be achievable in the 12-18m timeframe even at current PGM prices simply because it would be nailing on more significant growth?

Learned posters. Is there one or two key factors which make the current share price less than half what is was 18 months ago ? Now long retired and wishing to predominantly move to cash, I have been seeking to exit most of my share portfolio since just pre Covid but the opportunities have been severely limited. I had set 20-25p as my exit target for Jubilee which I truly believed was realistic given the fundamentals. Am I being over ambitious in this within 12-18 months? Balanced views very welcome. Thx

You would think that advfn could intervene and remove people like sabastin2 completely. It has spammed hundreds of bb’s overnight and it is surprising that advfn don’t have surveillance on their system to deal with it.
