Most posters compare Russia's cheapest blend of oil Urals with one of United States best blends and therefore most expensive blends WTI.

Today, WTI is around $73, meanwhile the average price of all the blends in the United States is some where in the mid $60's, with quite a few blends in the $50's, therefore it seems to me reasonable to say its unreasonable to always compare Urals with WTI.

It seems to me reasonable to compare Russia's ESPO or SOKOL blend with WTI as they are near enough equivalent quality of blends. Currently ESPO is trading 2% above WTI while SOKOL is trading 2% below.

It looks like over the past week another brigade has left Kiev leaving the city with just 3 brigades to protect it. This time last year Kiev had 12 brigades plus protecting the city.

At this rate, the Russians will be able to walk into Kiev with a pop gun to take the city.

Western sanctions are really helping the Russian domestic aircraft production industry...

More than 600 airliners are expected to be constructed in Russia within six years, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said.

"Within the next six years totally more than 600 domestically-produced airliners are to be constructed," he said at a meeting with his deputies. "Superjets and flagship MC-21s and SJ-100s will comprise the backbone of the fleet of Russian airlines, with regional Il-114s and highly-reliable Tu-214s for medium-range flights, as well as wide-body aircraft such as Il-96-300, complementing this range," the prime minister added.

The latest IL-114 is the equivalent of the British built BAE-ATP, carries the same number of passengers at 68 and a range of 900nm.

MC21 is the equivalent of the A319/A320 - 165 Pax, Range 3,500nm

SJ-100 is the equivalent of the A220 - 100 Pax, Range 1,600nm for the standard & 2,300nm Long Range.

TU214, building 70 - 210 pax, Range 2,600nm

IL-96-300 - 260/300 Pax, Range 6,000nm

Another thing I've notice is how Kiev is defended by half the number of brigades it was even just 6 months ago, shows these troops have had to be pushed forward to defend the front lines and how short of men the Ukraine really is.

More and more, Ukrainians on the front lines are refusing orders to attack the Russians or advance towards the Russian lines, all they are now willing to do is to defend their positions.

The MOEX Russia index rose by 0.3% to 3195 on Monday, advancing for the fourth session, driven by expectations of dividends and cooler-than-expected inflation data. According to the latest report, Russia's annual inflation rate slowed to 7.4% in December from 7.5% in the previous month, defying market expectations of 7.6% and supporting the case for the earlier interest rate cuts by the CBR. Among sectors, telecommunications and IT rose the most.

As for individual stocks, GLTR (5.9%), Ozon (3.3%), Seligdar (1.9%), and Alrosa (1.7%) were the top gainers. The former increased after it became known that the investment company AQNIET Capital LLP bought out the shares of the three main shareholders of Globaltrans Investment PLC and now indirectly owns 26.19%.

In contrast, Lukoil (-0.5%), Sovcomflot (-0.5%), and Magnit (-0.4%) dropped.

No healthcare either in the circus

UK Intelligence says Russians feel impact of war on healthcare

Sun, January 14, 2024 at 11:38 AM GMT·1 min read

The UK Ministry of Defence said the Russian population is experiencing the impact of Russia's war against Ukraine on healthcare in Russia.

Details: Russian media reported that it was challenging for the population to access hospital services across the country.

There are also reports of medical supplies shortages, including broad-spectrum antibiotics.

The war is likely having a significant impact on this situation, as hospitals are treating wounded soldiers, UK Defence Intelligence believes.

The Russian government has also been forced to downsize civilian medical facilities across the country due to medical staff shortages and financial hardship

oh dear so the "superpower", cough, cough, that is Russia is now imposing power blackouts on millions

14 Jan 24

Vladimir Putin has reportedly ordered rolling energy blackouts across Moscow as temperatures reach - 22C.

The blackouts are said to cover the entire Moscow metropolitan area which has a total population of around 22 million.

The order issued states that electricity is "not to exceed 12 hours per day" with the blackouts in place from January 14 through March 31 2024, according to Ukraine commentator Igor Sushko.

It comes after a heating main ruptured at the Klimovsk Specialised Ammunition Plant in Podolsk, about 30 miles south of central Moscow, on January 4.

Russian fighter jets are built to be able to take off from roads whereas even the old F16s the Ukrainians are being given require proper runways to operate from.

Over the past few days the Russians have destroyed the maintenance hangers/bases that the F16s were going to use in the Ukraine.

Even the Ukrainians are now acknowledging that 95% of all Russian missile/drone attacks are getting through compared to this time last year when they're reporting they were shooting down 90% of said attacks shows that the Ukrainian air defences have completely collapsed.

Western media and poverty? Wrong again confused.commie on both counts.

It is Putin that has taught the western public to dislike/distrust Russia and dismiss it now as a failed world power with a failing economy run by a genocidal maniac.

How many ordinary Russians will die this winter through lack of food, heating or basic hygiene and domestic infrastructure?

The Western media tells the Western public WHO is their enemy and why we have to attack them - another lie - the people of the West don't have a clue of what is really going on.

The Western media has taught the western public to hate Russia, priming the public that Russia needs to be attacked while all the time the people of the West are sinking more and more into poverty.

U.S., Partners Explore Seizing Russian Assets to Back Loans to Ukraine

The U.S. and its partners are exploring ways to use some of the $300 billion in frozen Russian central bank reserves to back loans to Ukraine, one of a series of ideas that Western officials are considering as they struggle to agree on a method to seize Russian funds without spooking international investors.

With Congress blocking funding for Ukraine, there is renewed impetus in Washington to find other sources of long-term financial support. After the outbreak of war, billions of dollars in Russian foreign currency reserves, gold and government bonds were frozen across the U.S., Europe and Japan to ensure they weren’t used to fund its illegal invasion.
