No dog, just the wife and son. More brits coming back than going from what i saw, it seems the love afair is ending with Spain for many.
Agree about JMC, i am uncertain about the markets as a whole though, i am hoping for a pullback of 3%+ before committing more funds, but before this happens knowing my luck they will probably go up another 10%.
Take a look at Jpmorgans Japanese 2 trust they have both been trashed this year they look to me as though they may be bottoming out and if India and china keep their growth going the Japs must get dragged along being so close IMO

Quiddy, yes mate, but not as much as i should be. I have not had time to view over the summer just moved back from Spain and have missed out of most of the action.I am mainly in cash at present while i cant give it the time and the markets seem to be getting a bit top heavy for the moment so hoping/praying for a bit of a pull back to get some more.
Cheers

igoe - HMGov needs people like you to give figures!!

NAV 86p share price 80p discount 7%
china popln 1.3bn approx 1/5 of world popln 6.6bn
see

however wouldn't be surprised to see jmc return to a premium in the near future, china fast becoming the catalyst for the state of the world economy

well not far off 30% is not a bad discount. i think this is a great long term play. i see the chinese market, like what japan was in the 1950,s, but china has 1.3 billion people living in it around anout 1/3 of the worlds population. i can see alot of jmc investments becoming, billion pounds, blue chip companies in the next ten years.

igoe104 "yep net assets over 85 mill, market cap 59 mill."

Last published NAV 85.21p/share - current share price just over 80p - a bit of discount but not as much as you are saying.

chinese stocks trading higher.

Yuan Strengthens

China Mobile, the world's largest cell-phone company by users, rose 1.7 percent to HK$64.25 in Hong Kong. China Life Insurance Co., the nation's biggest insurer, added 0.9 percent to HK$16.52.

The Chinese currency gained 0.08 percent to 7.8724 against the U.S. currency as of 10:05 a.m. in Shanghai, after the International Monetary Fund said China should increase the yuan's flexibility and reduce its reliance on exports for economic growth.

Apart from the 1% dividend, what advantage is there in buying JMC rather than FXC, the exchange traded fund?

Given that...
No stamp duty is payable on purchases of EFTs
No buying commission on EFTs in Squaregain ISA
JMC caries more risk with share price at premium to NAV
Bid/offer spread is about 2% for jmc and about 1% for FXC

I sold out most of mine recently, but still hold 3k, short term it could go down further than other ITs because it is trading at a premuim, which leaves it open to greater falls if the market goes down. Also there is a head & shoulder forming now, medium to long term it should be a great investment but at the moment myself, i will wait until the picture is clearer before adding.

you would of thought, china was going into a recession, the way the share price has fallen, anyway this fund will bounce back, i except it to be over £1.20 by the end of the year at least.
