This is a hard one, sometimes the market does get it wrong: JKX has:

1) hard (not intangible) net assets worth 2.5 times the market cap and little debt
2) a projected cashflow of roughly of around £60M

Yes production has been falling but the company seems to be putting massive effort in to readdressing that (Russia and the contract for fracture work)

The last time I bgt in here was in the 20's. The market got it wrong then (but not without some hassle with the Ukraine mafia), I am hoping it is happening again. Me I have bgt a fair amount in the 75-81p range and watching closely. May buy more.

Ah! the number of times I have convinced myself that a share price cant go any lower! only to be proved spectacularly wrong!
I will only buy under one of the following circumstances.
1. A stable share price for over 4 weeks.
2. The share price reaching 50p (speculative at that valuation)
3. The company demonstrating that they have turned around the dramatic fall in production over the last year.

There;s only so much it can fall from here, before a takeover is on the cards. Downside has to be at a minimum.

What I don't understand is, why have jkx dropped so much over the past 5 years or so - any ideas!?

Why take the risk? there's been no levelling out yet. EXI a good example

Looking at last months prices, a .72 - .78 buy price can't be a bad thing. Wasn't long ago when JKX were selling at 1.77! Time to stock up I think...Cash and tax issues don't outweigh the low price for me, but do need to keep a close eye I think.C.

I believe it to be a very good buy, however, I am well down so as they say wtfdik. IMS is due in November, maybe they can get a bit of good news out before then.

Falling on very small volumes.

Doesn't even look like it's being heavily shorted:

Question must be, how much downside is there here, when mark cap already falling below revenues. What's going on? (Apart from punitive tax regime in Ukraine, and cash worries..!)

Told you chaps this is a dog.....

Following the December ratification by the Ukrainian parliament a new tax code takes effect in Ukraine as from 1st January 2011. JKX has sought clarification and advice from Ukrainian tax experts regarding the expected impact of these changes on JKX's Ukrainian operating subsidiary Poltava Petroleum Company ("PPC"). Whilst the detailed effect is yet to be clarified, it is apparent that PPC will be subject to a substantial increase in unified production related taxes albeit that this will be partially mitigated by a progressive reduction in the rate of corporate tax from the current level of 25% to 16% by 2014. The overall impact of these changes is anticipated to be an immediate increase in PPC's effective tax rate from approximately 30% to approximately 50%. The effect at Group level will be reduced by the introduction of production and revenues from JKX's Russian subsidiary, Yuzhgazenergie LLC. In addition, JKX is exploring other options to ameliorate the impact of the tax changes in Ukraine.

Oh dear.
On 7th Jan when l recommended my sell, this was around 280p...
Need to check whether this is worth a punt, but GKP a far better bet.

One sure thing about the share price of JKX is that when it moves to the upside, it has a habit of moving far and fast - at least in percentage terms.

Bob, yes indeed. But how to know where value lies here.. So I stay out for time being.

Just back from a few days away. I was going to take a nibble last week around 80p but hesitated.....glad I did.
As I have mentioned before, until they can turn around their falling production there will be little support to the share price
If it gets to 50 then I would take a speculative punt but it may well turn before then.

You remember some of the risks outlined earlier in the year in the post below.

Yes, either extreme value here, or extreme, concealed distress! Not without risk, but the exact nature of risks is not clear to me.

It's still in the range for now (JUST). I wont be adding anymore until we break the wedge:

they usually start to knock it down at around 13:30, may be a dangerous game to keep averaging, time will tell.

80p looked like support, but it wasn't to be....

I going to need the trend to turn before buying in.

Well that institution seems to be adding, yet the share price is at lows. Very disappointing share price performance, but surely a great bargain at this price.
