See the same losers here like castleford tiger after another year with no progress. Total tube |
They are not discounts. The people have noted they are just taken down to the price they should have been in the first place! As one poster said some prices are up 20% on last year. People aren't daft. |
Trend is to book later, at a discount, as noted in recent rns. Heavy early discounts doesn't support that model? |
Bloody hell, looking at the way the share price is going the board have got to cotton on quick and do thing the American/North way. Instead of the Southeren way selling less for more, sell more for less or those planes aren't going to get filled or paid for. Dont be greedy in hard times, settle for the same profits for a while instead of year on year more for same sales. Rain in the greed. |
The trouble is people have short memories. We had a world wide crash that cost all dearly that we worked out of, followed by Covid that cost billions to keep business and people in work after it, Then the energy crisis, then Truss and war. In all these where managed at great cost but we were coming out of it. People tend to forget all of this and dont consider how labour with their amateur people would have dealt with it. They forget how costly all this was and no grandpa's magic money tree to go to and oh boy do we need one now. Like the house wife when she looks in her purse she knows she can only have so much and cant continue to rob Peter to pay Paul. it's going to catch up on her with disastrous consequences. That's what labour never learn and this is a former union convenor writing and saying. Back to the 70's I'm affraid. |
Think the Pension IHT thing will get reversed in 4.5 years because the way they are going Labour won't be the ruling government. |
@suetballs - correction: a big tax bill for my children which will still mean they get a nice inheritance. |
As a bit of balance not everyone in the country is hard up, and around inheritance there is a change of mood, people thinking about spending and enjoying their money, rather than let the tax man rake a bigger chunk when they die. |
A cherry sure. I’m not applauding Labour by any means- stalled growth by waiting for 4 months to do a budget and Reeves shouldn’t be talking down the economy. Just that U.K. gilts have largely followed US treasuries. It’s trump tariffs that are projected to be inflationary, and a US fiscal deficit alongside ours that is pretty bonkers.
In my view they need to ease off the level of QT at the moment. Selling up £100bn a year of gilts at a monumental loss and pushing up yields (albeit to a small degree) further is a particularly dull idea. |
Clown if you think labour haven't just put the cherry on a Tory made cake! |
What world are you living in ya daft mug |
You only have to read the papers to have boring sensationalist muck at the moment.
If you base your outlook for the duration of Labour government’s time in power on what the daily telegraph says then you’ll stick your cash under the mattress.
Not saying Labour aren’t making some poor decisions but it’s not the end result of the world. Fiscal headroom is an issue due to the U.K. following the direction of the US bond markets.
Real incomes are increasing above inflation as are cash deposits.
Consumer spending power is increasing not decreasing. |
You only have to see the papers today what a mess we are in and that's before everything kicks in in April. It looks highly likely she will have to raise more taxes or upset their pay masters with lay offs and big cuts. They are saying food price are going up 4.5% and say no chance of prices going anywhere but up. It's looking very bad all round not just for holidays. I could cry being taken back to the 70s. |
My flight to Faro in June is up 20% on last year and that's with the offers applied. |
@CT - wish I had a spare £175k to trade! |
Agreed Angus- it’s become an absolute must for a lot of folks, rather than a discretionary spend. |
Brits will always want their two weeks of Mediterranean sun once a year no matter what. |
