I spoke with someone yesterday and it got me thinking. Airbus going in - which were due at MAN, GLA and EDI. Why? Because they haven't been able to recruit airbus pilots in the numbers they thought. Luton is an airbus base for EZY and WIZZ. It's going to be a small base and involved W patterns, something I don't think happens at any other base? All in I think it's great. But I'm not sure they haven't had their hand forced in some way or at very least, been nudged to it by factors they weren't expecting. I'm happy, I think it'll be very fruitful, but that nobody saw it coming might tell you something. |
rather muted action based on the great news yesterday.

These days there is relatively little pure package holiday business going out of LTN, so attractive in the way STN was when they started there |
Gatwick isn't viable whilst they have the single runway, unless someone rather large pulls out. Surprised to see them in at Luton but admire them going after EasyJet, a nice two fingers to their holiday business. |
I would imagine if Gatwick is near to full capacity, it would be the slots that hold them back in getting in there. That being said, they still have some good southern UK coverage with Luton, Stansted and Bournemouth recently added. Agree, Gatwick would be the jewel in the crown if it were ever to happen. |
"As a valued myJet2 member, we want you to be the first to know that we're bringing the sunshine to London Luton Airport! We're all set to soar to 17 sun-kissed destinations from April 2025. We can't wait to whisk you away..." - I would prefer Gatwick, but that airport looks nearly full capacity. |
13th UK base announced - Luton! |
Breakout valid. Refusing to go back into the range. Will it hold? Who knows but odds are it will. Adding to what should be my final and last batch. |
I'm sitting on a jet2 flight again, but today I'll fly 8% higher than last time! :) |
1555 another few away
