Just read through this thread, mostly agree with your post 53 except perhaps when you say religion. Do you really only mean church? Do you mean the church as a quasi political organisation is no good or that all discussion about consciousness being able to escape the body or even survive death is nonsense. It's all about a definition of religion really.

Why was it a sin for Adam to eat the apple. To 'eat' from the tree of knowledge should surely be a good thing. It seems that trying to learn the truth is treated as a sin, and a bad one. Discuss.

Based upon a very good chance Genesis is based on the older stories pre-history, its worth reading it again.

A good site for this, along with notes on why certain words were chosen (and note that many of these chosen words and meanings from translation could well be, and often are wrong and biased over time).

I am now reading up on the Sumerain Culture - Ancient Iraq, predating all the biblical stuff.

Interesting question was recently raised, did the US invade Iraq for WMD ? or oil ? or in desperation to find certain Sumerian relics ? Remember the stories of "relics and artefacts" destroyed and lost forever........... ?????? Really ???? or were they hijacked and stolen for uses and information that nobody is letting on about......

One just never knows anymore..........
