I think at this point I would rather have 'Big Tim' at the helm than Boris.

At least 'Big Tim' would not 'busk it' at the press conferences. The new Chancellor has been better prepared for his presentations and very sharp in delivery. Cometh the hour, cometh the man.

O.K. he will have to deal with a train wreck of public finances after this, I think he is very impressive (so far).

That number is scratching the surface barely.

Ones of my friends who works in a Surrey hospital where patients have died of coronovirus
is isolating with flu like symptoms, he has not been tested. Neither has his girlfriend who is now also unwell and off work for 2 weeks.

We don't even have enough text kits for NHS workers.

It is probably not lost on Big Tim that his highest turnover sites are the 24hr airport ones @ 100k a week...

Whats the point in closing Wetherspoons and major cities down trying to kill off the virus if people are still flying in from badly affected countries ?

Coronavirus chaos at UK borders as up to 7,500 visitors arrive in Britain from the three nations with highest death tolls in last week... and flights from Italy, China and Iran are STILL landing

One thing I have little doubt of at some point in the future there will be a hell of a lot of (thirsty) pent up demand and pubs will be absolutely rammed.Same with the holiday industry.Just a question of when may need to be patient.

True or not, I read this morning that areas that are prone to Malaria don't have the Corona thing.
Could be a load of rubbish but hopefully there may be some truth.
Any light at the end of the tunnel is welcome

Optomistic, you could add going to your local Tesco Extra.

I think boredom will eventually force people into 'Speakeasys' etc. or a rethink by the government.

Liberty and independence are both very powerful things in the minds of most Brits.

It is what got us through the first and second world wars. Oh! plus a bit of kit and help from Uncle Sam.

Afternoon all, Wetherspoons closed to avoid the meeting of the masses where one may contaminate the rest. I agree with the closure but why I ask is it OK to put way over a hundred on a jet who are effectively breathing the same air and transmit them throughout the UK with no apparent concern for transmition of the virus!
