Will the UK be far behind?.. I don't think so.

If you wanted to take a longer term contrarian view,
the stronger operators will survive and ultimately thrive ?..

I could do with two pints of ESB right now from a Fuller's pub.

Two pints allows one to be drunk and one left to 'reserve' table while hitting loo...

You better keep your granny home then.

Ministers have drawn up plans to put troops on the streets to help deal with the coronavirus crisis after the number of deaths almost doubled within 24 hours

And the Army has also drawn up contingency plans to keep petrol stations topped up with fuel when the country reaches 'peak virus'.

You will see a low while news is still getting worse,
by the time the news cycle turns prices will be 20-30% off lows, at least.

I'm Not making a case to buy right now.

WS will be a great recovery play but probably not until summer 2021 unfortunately. I love WS pubs, but not right now unfortunately.

The Government is set to mobilise “wartime-style” efforts in the next five to 20 days, including plans to isolate the elderly for four months, ITV’s political editor Robert Peston reports. As part of the new measures to help limit the impact of coronavirus, all people in Britain aged over 70 will be instructed to stay in strict isolation at home or in care homes for four months. Other measures being planned included the forced requisitioning of hotels, private hospitals and other buildings as temporary hospitals.

Pubs, restaurants and bars could also be forced to close.

Wetherspoons has reported that it is 'business as usual' despite fears of infection but the chain has put safety measures in place.

half working in healthcare, not particularly looking forward to the next few weeks!,

Once the weather improves , folk will be a lot more comfortable sitting outside have a Pint or two ...
Not sure if it makes any difference being outside but it probably feels safer

If people just wash their hands regularly and Spoons make a show of disinfecting door handles regularly and the like ......Customers should feel reassured
Hopefully ..

Essential, unless Boris closes pubs by an act of Parliament the 'usual suspects' mostly will not stop going to their local branch of 'Spoons!

I still don't get ordering two pints at once.

O.K. at the margin they might suffer a short term fall in turn over.

Interesting article in the Guardian on line which much to my surprise supports my view of the impact on the population of the Corona virus.

Bear, the debt is a big number however completely hedged and going out long into the future with a raft of 'nice' banks.

I think we will have to wait to see if Boris closes the pubs. I was in my local 'Spoons' this last Thursday - very busy with the usual suspects.

I find it amusing that the single old bloke sitting alone always orders two pints at the same time. I guess that will be me soon!

On a PE basis, and considering the debt, I would call a tenner no more than fair value. However, continued CV spread is utterly predictable, and will obviously impact on Spoons, but likely only in the short-term. I wouldn't buy over £8 in the current circumstances, but having said that, the share price could easily be back to £12+ by August.
