Going to start a new thread using the IEMB EPIC as it picks up the RNS and in particular the daily NAV statement.

NMS: The dealing screen on Selftrade offers an indication of online market size it tends to vary but has allways been 50 in the time I've been watching SEMB. Barclays says 500 on the research pages and the iShares fact sheet was saying NMS of 1002 bid and ask. Probably doesnt matter but would if you wanted to buy or sell a lot quickly.

Stop Loss/At Limit: I dont usually use them in theory my long positions are aimed at unlimited upside or income so I just sit and wait and wait. Though I have used them trading CFD's with the experience that the stops seem to get hit a lot more often than the at limit orders. And once the stop's been hit the market continues in the direction I originally predicted with renewed vigor.

Parabolic SAR: Is curious it varys as all indicators do with the time scale you use. I'm watching another share BILL and on a daily graph the indicator is sell. On a weeklys its a definite buy and on a monthly its a sell.....so as average punters we havent got a chance really, good fun trying though.

Hi Praipus.

I think I should mention up front that I am not very experienced. I just bought in with a long term view in order to diversify an ISA. That said, there can be little wrong with learning new things.

I should have stop losses and limits on all shares. I do have a notion of what these values might be for me but at the moment I just check in periodically on my holdings and if I feel so inclined I will adjust accordingly. I will look into setting up the automated equivalent.

I must also apologise to you. The NMS is indeed 50. Where did you glean the NMS information? The London stock exchange website is clearly wrong.

I only know this now because I was experimenting today and decided to offer my entire holding to the market to see what would, in effect, be a live bid price. The system told me I was attempting to exceed the maximum trading quantity. I retested and sure enough 50 was the lucky number.

I just have a small ISA based holding here. I was after income producing dollar assets and this looked like good value to me for the same reasons you outline. I believe it was oversold when I bought.

We have the extra complication here of a volatile GBP/USD exchange rate muddling things up and I was going to comment to that effect when I saw your parabolic sar chart the other day but didn't get around to it. So far the muddling has been in a good way! In dollars the movements have been mostly sideways recently.

By counterparty risk I expect you are referring to the sovereign debtors but Barclays who's product this is has also featured on my 'risk radar'. It's hardly likely that the UK government would let Barclays get into trouble but I have been wondering how that scenario might affect ishares holdings. I believe there is some consumer protection in the event.

Just a small correction for the benefit of those reading back over this in future the NMS is 500 at the moment according to the LSE website. Some explanations for this might be that the fund has not traded for a full year yet. The market, being bearish, also doesn't have many participants at present.

Hi karesplat, thanks it can be a lonely business, although its useful being able to keep links and graphs somewhere for ease of access.

Got some as a pilot buy not dissapointed so far.

Pros as I see them

1. The dividend yeild 10.2% now I believe!
2. Dividend frequency monthly.
3. Underlying being fixed interest sovereign debt.
4. I like the allocation strategy i.e based on trade surplus.

My concerns are:-

1. counterparty risk
2. switching costs within the portfolio
3. uderlying bond collapse coupled with a currency collaps causing a significant drop in NAV and thus the share price
4. NMS only 50 causing a "what does the market know I dont" feeling.

What say you?

Hi Praipus. Just to let you know your work on this is not in vein. At the very least I am reading your posts. I am holding and have been since October 30th. What is your status on this?
