22/6/2010 22:14 | To my mind mind a good song always stanbds out regardless of the stylr of music whether it be Classical, pop, rock, reggae, funk, Jazz etc, (even Country and Western) but saying that I dont like too much of this rapping stuff or grunge, but if I like something, then I like it some of my albums I have are by: Bowie Lou Reed Ian Hunter Gilbert O'Sullivan Bjork Loius Prima Sam Baker Ingrid Michaelson Be Bop Deluxe Deep Purple Ian Dury Queen Eva Cassidy The Kinks ELO Klaus Nomi Lena Lovich But as for good songs/versions of songs there are far too many that I like to even begin to list. | merlin55
22/6/2010 20:51 | Abbey Road.. It has to be Abbey Road for me by a mile. It's the only Beatles album I can listen to from start to finish. Probably because it's the least like 'pop' music. My ears have a chronic aversion to anything that sounds like 'pop' music no matter who sings it. | krakow
22/6/2010 11:24 | It was 2003 when I saw McCartney. - -Saw Guns & Roses a couple of times in the 90s and they had pyrotechnics for their version of Live and Let Die. | riverdiver
22/6/2010 10:19 | Rich re 1451 I've listened to them over the years but never really got into their albums, a number of classic songs yes, but their albums didnt do it for me. I have Mcartneys Ram and Band on the run (my favourite post beatles McCartney song is "another day" | merlin55
22/6/2010 09:35 | love playing Beatles songs - it's how I learnt to play 'proper' guitar by feigning a sicky from school and sitting down with 'With the Beatles' and 'Help' and realising that they were playing the same chords as me - for some reason, I had it my head that proper bands didn't play A shapes and barre chords - it was a revelation (although I was only 11 so most things were at that age) there's a good big thick book, which tabs out all of their songs, pretty accurately as well: really reccommend it, I learnt how to do that Lennon fingerpicking stuff on Julia from it | wolterix
22/6/2010 07:29 | Got to laugh how the Stones cultivated this image of being the bad boys of pop whereas The Beatles were thought of as appealing to the mums and dads. Early Beatles were working class lads in leather jackets playing the rough clubs of Hamburg while the Stones were middle class studenty types. Andrew Loog Oldham was the man who created the Stones image. Have to add that the reason I missed The Beatles wasn't only down to the cost - I was considered too young to queue all night, which you had to do to get a ticket! | riverdiver

21/6/2010 12:42 | Me neither, although I saw the Tremeloes in 1965 (with Brian Poole):-00 , also i was in a band that supported "Les Gray's Mud" for a one off gig in about 1986 - here endeth my claim to fame. 2 concerts stick out in my mind as exceptional 1) Lou Reed at the Hammersmith Odean circa 1996 nad 2) Van Morrsion at the Reading Hexagon circa 1997 both for excellent sound and musicianship. | merlin55
