An interesting post, backed up by experience in the dealing room.
Sounds like a good prognosis to me.

I no longer trade as actively as in my younger years and I do not pay for Level 2. Perhaps someone who has can advise how many Market Makers (MM’S) are involved in making a price in IQE shares.

The reason I ask is because it is important not to forget that the Market Makers (MM’s) have an important role to play in providing liquidity in IQE’s share price. However, the bigger ones do run back books which frequently requires a decision by a senior director to establish a long or short position in a share.

It has been known that Hedge Funds like ShadowFall and MuddyWaters knowingly support the publication of an adverse release, as we have seen recently, following which they pull the carpet from under the MM’s feet and sell shares well under the last bid price which was quoted. The MM’s initially have no idea what is going on and total confusion reigns until they catch up with the so called deliberately leaked adverse news.

It’s all a game of cat and mouse. And not a pleasant one at that if you are on the wrong side. You can suddenly see 40% knocked off the price of a share you hold for apparently no reason whatsoever until you catch up with the news!

With the shorters closing their positions, the execution of IQE’s share price appears to have now run its course. And more importantly, with the recent RNS’s it would not be surprising for a couple of Market Makers to have decided to run back books in IQE and to mop up all the loose stock. This could easily be in the region of 15m shares. While establishing the long back books they, like the shorters, do not want the share price to run away from them. And I believe this appears to be what we seeing now.

Once their positions are achieved the share price, as I expect, will rocket up to 140p and then we await the results. Then the carnage could be complete!

All pure speculation on my part of course!

lol quite! Funny though seeing a boar in a restaurant. The journalist must have been told to get a funny video out and link it to 5G to cover the advertising agreements :-)

MACD turned positive yesterday. The last time that happened was on 9 Nov, when share price leapt after the placing. At that point RSI was 60, now it is 43, so lots of headroom.

lol doc, what the hell does the network infrastructure have to do with the sensors they install to detect animals? Sometimes I wonder how these people get their jobs as journalists.

muddy waters would knock your block off if you said that about his name...."Childish?"

ignorance again[Dont you children read or listen to ANYTHING from the past?]

when you buy a pension the trustees have a duty of care.

in most people's minds this does NOT include lending the stock out so it can be shorted.

Some countries ban this activity .We should too. But, hang on, where would the soft aristos go to get their funds then?Have pity.

Friday is the last day prior to the close period for the results announcement by my reckoning. Does that forbid the company from defending any more random attacks?

This is a beautiful set up for a short squeeze - sells drying up, low volume. They have to be hoping for a big market down day to help them close out. Circa 70m+ shares to be bought back and only 24 more trading sessions before results. From 10 sessions out, buying volume is likely to start building, if not before. Hopefully, the IIs will smell blood before then and a disorderly exit will ensue.

Good to hear. Just what we have been calling for. I wonder what prompted that article.

Interesting article in FT today citing IQE and calling for regulation of all investment research - long and short recommendations. About time.

hannsth - yes it does suggest that but you wouldn't normally change auditor so late in the fiscal year. So if it was because there is a better price then you would be best to wait until the start of the new financial year.

Don't get me wrong, I am a very hopeful iqe holder and am not wealthy so IQE has huge potential to help my family. I am about 350% up at the moment but I know myself and we can all get caught up in confirmation bias. Hence why I am a little puzzled at the timing of this change but am hopeful it's because the business is in take off mode so a new auditor will help steer them through how to manage the balance sheet.

So, the 100k and 125k buys moved the price up. Is that Cawkwell swallowing his 10% loss?
