Only the early winter months, the past few years seems to be colder just into the new year when we had problems with wellheads freezing over last year. Ive been keeping an eye on the long range forcasts and until late october the general consensus was that north america would avoid most of the polar vortex that struck it last year. Recently though, the forecasts are suggesting that the polar vortex may make a return as of mid november. If theres several months of increasingly cold weather it could prove to be a problem. We know the BoD have measures in place to protect infrastructure against freezing temperatures but we dont know what or how effective it is in prolonged spells or if the temp drops below -x degrees, thats all. Just something i keep an eye on.

Bogg1e - why do you see next year as being problematical ? Thanks

Problematic is the word. Adding 'al' is okay but not really necessary.

mm3, i trust the BoD when they say that the right measures are in place to cope with extreme cold and i doubt whether it would get cold enough this year to stop operations so i expect them to hit their 2014 end of year targets especially as IO2 is running better, but early next year could be problematical.

Actually yours is an assumption followed by a negative assertion but no matter.

mm3,

Your faith is hanging by a thread?

Okay let's be generous and say production targets will be hit. Is there any chance this will make a pre-tax profit?

bocker, that may be true, but the impact the interrim management had on the business and subsequently the share price will continue with us for at least another 6 months, and that is just to see an improvement in market confidence, but 2 years worth of income and reinvestment in growth we will never get back. Hopefully by march 2015 we shall have the output we expected back in spring 2013, ie 8 plants or equivalent in plants + minis with an annual output of 1500+ tonnes , but even then we wont be back to 250p, however ludicrous that is. The market will need reassurance that IOF can maintain high and consistent production levels before we get back to that price.

One last little gloomy point, ive been watching long range weather forcasters regarding this years winter in north america and whether we shall see the polar vortex this year, which closed down O&G operations last year. Latest reports, based on historical typhoon patterns, suggest a mini polar vortex could extend south of Canada into Montana, Dakota etc starting in the next 2 weeks. Whether it will retreat northwards again thereafter is not known at this time. Cheerfully yours. Bogg1e ;-)

You have to make money, the water JV shall pay off some debt. I believe the English side still in are in it for oil, not iodine, water or gas.

...and yes, it's basically the same as Chris.

(that's why Graham doesn't trust Banksy)

Netters, you don't mind sticking the boot in, but to be fair, you're smarter than the average bear and that's important; one should never become too complacent when investing and lets face it you called IOFs drop right when i was still trusting the interrim BoD cos I thought they were following lances plan. That was very naive of me, to project my trust in Lance onto those who represented him. Folly, but a lesson. Cheers.

Its cos us qfiers know that it will either make it or it wont. The business case is so simple and everything that can be revealed has been. There are no grey areas to speculate over, which could be used to persuade a PI to become a bull if a bear or vice versa. IOF though is the rollercoaster of let downs and unexpected surprises, with some nice ones to come soon hopefully, after a disastrous year. The decision to have a performance review around mid november or so was before the water licence was awarded, so i imagine the performance review will now be included with the update on the licence. Hopefully a decent early Christmas present for the long suffering holders will be revealed after december 1st.

There is one caveat though, and that is this; it doesn't matter how much cash they get for the water. They have to prove to the market that they can use that cash effectively, announcing that they will order 10 minis a new plant will be well received but im not expecting a high share price until the investment in new equipment delivers the volumes of iodine promised. This should be apparant by next spring, if the cash for the depot is forthcoming before the end of the year.

I think the recipient of the 100,000 shares in the share option announcement last week is dumping them for a quick 10 grand profit... silly person IMO...
