Easy that one Bogg1e and for the 415th time, they don't do slick water fracking in OK.

Slick water is an old method of high volume fresh water and less chemicals, produced water is anything but slick. There simply isn't he fresh water available to do it in OK, that's why they use produced water, but then only because they get so much produced water in OK. It's the highest water cut location by some margin in the US, and that's also why IOF could become world leader in iodine, as a lot of it is rich in iodine.

Have a read, I mention slickwater as some Bakken players are loving the results.

Halcon sets company IP record with slickwater frack.

“Up in the Williston Basin we’re literally knocking the ball out of the park,” was how Halcon Resources Chief Executive Officer Floyd Wilson described the Houston-based independents Bakken performance during a presentation at the Barclays CEO Energy Power Conference in New York on Sept. 3.

Cheer up Festario if it had rocketed above 60p you would be saying "another 2k gained"... you need to look long term and ignore daily movements... hopefully of pence will be irrelevant in a couple of years...

Excellent news!

As you rightly anticipated SG, the application amount was reduced, but it still equates to about 80,000 barrels per day, which is fantastic! Importantly, it now opens the door for further applications in the future if the company go down that route.

Personally, I would love to see IOF finance the water project themselves, and I think that would have been the plan had the iodine production been what they had previously led us to believe - however I am confident we will obtain those figures in the future. Probably the way to go though is with a JV, as we will get some cash to accelerate the roll out of the mobile units. Looking a lot better now.

Orslega,
I won't correct her, that outfit previously said IOF were cutting derivatives margins and we know how that turned out!

Another thing we need to know is whether Iofina can now apply for the next 80k bpd licence (or two licences to get the full 200k bpd) or whether they are prevented from doing so by regulations, eg that an additional licence can only be applied for once the first licence is commercially operable. I think though that its safe to assume that any further licence applications, being essentially the same as the first, should be processed much more quickly.

coming to view that whilst the Water news is huge news the market won't really react as it should until all the i's are dotted and t's crossed with the Bureau - or a conditional JV announced..

also I think many investors have had a rough time with Iofina (me included) so maybe that is also the reason for the rather mooted response...

...anyway, no doubt about it, IOF is now seriously undervalued....like a few long termers, am adding on this news....

I've just topped up (more averaging down!) - it's showing as a sell.

More manipulation........

Che - hilarious - you going correct them?! I corrected a journalist on a glowing error on an article written about Northcote Energy - talked about operation in Oklahoma rather than Louisiana - very different climates...he was really appreciative and corrected the article without too much embarrassment...

Neddo,
MMs need to balance the books, all those buys this morning without a sharply rising share price they can now balance out with sellers.

We know the direction they have to go after the pause.

Wider market us ignorant to the real reason for the rise:

Chaps, if slickwater fracking becomes more routine, there is a chance that this could mean further brine disruptions to our plants. Any thoughts?

Here is Halliburton's view on the potential this half of the year.

Slick water seems to be kicking in since that report, so I'll be interested to see how that impacts the market. If you are were previously using 50k barrels per well and use 250k for a slick water frack, any move the slick water trends will be huge for the market.

If one were to anticipate that to be a trend, then you would want to secure big water supplies, fast.

The JV partner is likely to have the main say in when build commences and people like HAL are pretty experienced in considerably worse terrain. Hard build versus deferring profits a few months... take your pick. Mine is on a rapid start up with the JV looking to acquire more rights as soon as permissable.... for the JV these current rights will only be the start in the development of a substantial enetrprise.....
