How much are you short by, £1000 a penny? So, you get £5000 if you're right, and if you're wrong, you might lose £10,000, maybe more. I know how much my losses will be if this goes to zero...

HugoTanha - not Intu specific, but managing losses is one of the most important investment skills. No one makes 100% correct decisions, indeed 50% is a reasonable starting position. So the question you should always ask is; what is the downside? In just about every company the answer in the short term is 30%. It just takes an announcement of fraud, or deaths, or some other disaster, or even just a market correction. There are special situations though, such as here where the company is heavily indebted, or slightly different where an industry is disappearing, for example newspapers. In the case of Intu, as even the bulls would acknowledge, the worst case is a 100% loss.

So specifically for Intu, how are events matching up with your investment thesis? If they aren't then simply cut your losses and move on. If your investment thesis is intact then you can hold on, accepting that the result could be a 100% loss. No one here can give you advice on what to do.

Personally I am short and I expect to make a 100% gain on my position as the equity will end up being worth nothing. This will happen some time between now and the 1 July. As per the last RNS the situation is very messy because the centres need more cash and a couple of them are already paying all receivables to the secured debt holders.

I half expect another stay until 29 or 30 June and a pre-pack to be announced. I imagine the conversation has moved on from whether to enter administration to how to maximise returns for all as turning off the lights for even a day or two would be highly detrimental.

And the administrators are... KPMG, who have been kept nice and sweet in the background for some weeks now.

If it goes into administration, the appointed administrator takes control of all assets. The banks can just make a claim like any other creditor for how much they are owed. The administrators job is to realize the maximum they can for the assets and then to repay the creditors.
