That page is simply an out of date screenshot of an AF page showing AF's travel merchants at some point in the past - it even shows niggle's site, www.shoes.co.uk, as a new merchant!

There are now quite a few more travel merchants than are shown on that page.

If you are an AF affiliate, once you are logged on you get a list of merchant categories, one of which is travel merchants (where that list was taken from at some point in the past).

So "no" it's not more informative than AF's own site, in fact it's misleading!

The AF merchant directory currently shows the following travel merchant categories and numbers of merchants:

Travel - Accommodation (22)
Travel - Essentials (34)
Travel - Flights (6)
Travel - Holidays (25)

i.e. over 80 in total.

spacecowboy - have you seen the bottom of this page?

I have now! :-)

But until 30minutes ago I would have had no idea that it had anything to do with Henoo. I had been looking either for Henoo banners, or for hyperlinks addresses containing either Henoo or AF.

Thanks

P.S. I tried a search on the QXL page but I'm still waiting for any results :-(

The Farex site even has a list of AF Travel Merchants -

whereas the list of Merchants on the AF site -
contains all types of Merchants, not just travel (and therefore Henoo) related and is therefore hugely long.

Is it just me, or is the Farex site more informative about Henoo than IBG/AFs? ;-)

This is not a busy website but QXL are massive in Poland and a few central European countries. This will be a good earner if QXL decide to attack the UK market.

Anyone else who's been suffering from the same fogginess about Henoo as myself might like to look at the Farex Systems website (IBG acquired 33% of Farex in March 06) -

In particular, have a look at the page that explains the link with AF -

We are pleased to announce that we have teamed up with AffiliateFuture to offer you a holiday search engine for your website.

Holiday search

How does it work?

AffiliateFuture has developed new technology which allows you to include a holiday search facility in your website. This technology is called Henoo Holiday Search. Henoo technology allows your visitors to compare prices of over 3 million holiday deals from the UK's top tour operators and book directly with them. All deals from the following tour operators are included: Virgin Holidays, Portland Holidays Direct, Direct Holidays, Airtours, Aspro, Panorama, Manos and Escapades.

Thanks for your replies - and the encourangement to ask more questions! :-)

I've just had a look at Travelbag and couldn't see Henoo listed as one of their 'partner sites' or any other links.

I was still feeling mystified but then (lightbulb illuminates somewhere in head...!) wondered if you mean that the Travelbag search facility links through to the Henoo search engine in some way (maybe it links to others as well). I.e. if I got a Thomas Cook holiday as part of a search result on Travelbag it's actually 'come from' Henoo?

And of course if the Henoo interface isn't really 'designed to be seen' by users (if i.e. most users who search Henoo will be doing so through a different interface) then Henoo's amateurish looking design isn't really a problem? This is starting to make a bit more sense! :-)

Spaceboy

but I can't help thinking (hoping?) that if the model was more clearly explained there might be more people buying rather than selling.

100%

The way a search engine works that compares prices, in simple is just a code that collects all the data.

Henoo has that code as do opodo kayak...... but they dont share it with others, its their data.

If henoo can distribute the code to established searchengines to add it in to the search ( I notice travelsupermarket are now searching avro and thomascook, which they werent, I imagine that is from henoo) and pay them commission, then af makes the override and maybe some commission as well.

Feel free to ask

Is very frustrating... I guess the longer it takes the more pressure will build and it should go 35p+... would be nice if it was sooner rather than later...

Put it this way. If you suspect that the share price will be nearer 40p at the end of this year, wouldn't you welcome a dip to 27p again to add a few more? It's a long game for those with the patience to play it (unfortunately, that's something that took me a long time to learn). :0)

A number of small sales and no buys pushes the share price down again this morning.
Difficult to understand why this share is so unloved after good results and excellent forward prospects !

Hirsh - context of your post with dgm tacked on end seemed to imply dgm also launched in us with outside help though as you say you were talking about dgm technology

Buy.at have launched in the us

Interesting how they have done it, they have recruited a newbie on the us side to join buy.at. Af sent over one of the team to the Us to start it off.
Dgm made a mess by going for outside help, will see how things play out.

Superaffiliates demand a highe commission, so say cosmos offer 3% a suoeraffiliate can negotiate at least 5%. Henoo pay the full normal commission so they make the %2 plus override.
Even if they pay out the full amount henoo (af) are happy to make just the override, firstly its revenue for af and secondly it's good for the merchant who will then stay with af.
Interestingly portland holidays was never on henoo and has left the af network.

The main thing about henoo is the feed. The feed means that they can give it to established sites for example kayayk can get the ready made travel feed and when you book thru kayak without you knowing it may be going thru af.

This feed is currently exclusive to af, and its a major help to an established travel portal.

Quite a few of the tour operators have been offering affiliates about 5% on package holiday bookings this year, from what I remember (which is more than normal). Obviously it varies and is dependent on what level of commission each individual operator is prepared to offer at any given time.
