Casholaa,

Posties have been offered the same 9% but the Union rejected it. They want 10%, no changes to anything at all and CEO to be sacked.

CWU latest. Here we go again. Threatening to notify strike action early next week (have to give 2 weeks notice) but continuing negotiations over the weekend. I believe it's called "clutching at straws."

BREAKING: CWU Postal Executive has agreed to serve notice early next week for national strike action.

We remain open to negotiations with Royal Mail Group over the weekend but we cannot tolerate their attacks on our members any longer.

Makes you wonder whether posties should get the same.

You never know. Thank you for the update NMRN. I'm quite happy for a further strike but I suspect that the share price will fly on a resolution of the dispute in either sides favour. That first chart above here is in my view quite interesting. dyor + gla

Union promising an update this afternoon. Possible insiders filling their boots before it? Would surprise no-one!

Looking for the ceo to get fired is playing the player instead of the playing the ball (e.g. kick the player instead of the ball)

Hi Tuftymatt,

Last statement from the Union which sounds pretty antagonistic so I don't expect anything sensible from them any time soon. They seem to be demanding the CEO gets fired before anything can happen. I assume the Board would realise this would be suicidal to agree but you never know!

AN UPDATE FOR ROYAL MAIL GROUP MEMBERS
17th March 2023

The only place for us to start is by recognising the huge pressure you are under in the workplace – both because of unachievable revisions and the continued targeting of CWU members and representatives. The situation is untenable, and we know it cannot continue. If Royal Mail do not step back, then the Postal Executive will act to defend our members.

There is no prospect of us reaching an agreement with the employer unless we can urgently alleviate the pressure out in the field – including achieving justice for members and representatives who have been outrageously targeted.

Alongside these attacks, Royal Mail’s finances are worsening by the day. This is a direct result of the mismanagement of the company – something laid bare in brutal terms by today’s report from the Select Committee. What we cannot accept is the same people who took the company into this crisis dictating how we come out of it.

Our representatives at all levels have been working incredibly hard to uphold the integrity of the recent joint statement but at the same time tactics are being deployed by an out-of-control senior management team under the mantra “our business to run”. If the Board want an agreement, they must intervene not just in the negotiations – but also to end the relentless attacks on our members.

With these huge issues in the background the negotiations have been extremely difficult. We are discussing pay, change and the very future of the company. There is enough in the talks to warrant continuing them. What we must now do is bring them to a conclusion – one way or the other.

On this basis, the CWU are currently analysing the key differences between the two parties and putting forward a clear view to the company on how we resolve them. This process will continue over the weekend.

Board level negotiations will continue next week and both parties recognise we are at a crunch point.

Next week we will also undertake a series of engagement initiatives across the union including:

An online briefing of our Branches and Senior Representatives
An online briefing for our Local Representatives
A CWU Live event for our members

We want to reach an agreement and we are committed to ending their mantra that is destroying the livelihoods of postal workers and the service to the public. Next week will be critical to the outcome of this dispute.

Stand by your local rep. Stand by your union. Stand by each other.

In solidarity,

Dave Ward

General Secretary

NMRN, do you have any insider knowledge on how they pay talks are going?

From what I have seen recently on the news it looks like others are finding ways to end disputes so hopefully that will happen here soon 🤞🏻

Bought a Vape it's been received by EVRI on Monday and still in limbo with no time or FA. The last Parcel got nicked as left outside and I'm still trying to get my money back from January.

March 13 - Royal Mail and the Communications
Workers Union (CWU) have agreed to extend talks in order to try
and reach an agreement over pay and employment terms, the postal
company and the CWU said in a joint statement on Monday.

Yawn. Is the strike coming before or after the price falls below 200p? zzzzz

Something which may be of genuine interest to actual investors..........

"UK communications regulator Ofcom has been asked to intervene in the dispute between Royal Mail and logistics company Whistl over access rights to Royal Mail's letter delivery network.

Ofcom’s access regime requires Royal Mail to offer access, on reasonable request, to its postal network for bulk mail “fair and reasonable terms, conditions and charges”.

Whistl has requested a tracked large letter service from Royal Mail but has raised concerns about the terms offered by Royal Mail.

Whistl alleges that Royal Mail broke these requirements when the latter attempted to pass certain costs associated with the access requirement onto Whistl.

Ofcom has accepted the dispute for resolution and will determine whether Royal Mail can pass on the costs of complying with its obligations to Whistl via the charges for the requested tracked large-letter service.

Ofcom intends to resolve this dispute using its powers under Schedule 3 of the Postal Services Act."

tuftymatt,

Ignore him. I just read his historical posts. All he does is latch on to a falling stock and post negative drivel about it.

No facts, no figures, no reasoned arguments...................just drivel!

@NMRM

In any real world business operating in a competitive environment, every avenue of internal efficiency gains is explored before passing costs on to the customers. Been there, got numerous T-shirts. Indeed sometimes you take a hit on margins to maintain volumes or market share depending on your corporate objectives.

Have the management got agreement with the unions of all the apparently essential reforms/efficiences? - in the unlikely eveny that they have then this might make the rises easier to stomach!
