Article in todays Sunday Times, Business Digest;
"International Brand Licensing, which owns the licence to
produce the England cricket teams kit, is expected to post an upbeat
trading update at its general meeting this week.

IBL, listed on AIM, owns Admiral, which has the exclusive rights to
produce Englands one-day kit and other merchandise. It had expected to sell just 75,000 of Englands one-day cricket strips during
the Ashes series, but as a result of Englands success so far sales
have soared. Observers believe the group could have sold up to
130,000 shirts."

I LIKE THIS BIT OF THE STATEMENT

"The board is very confident that future prospects are significant, and that 2005 will represent the start of a strong period of growth."

LONDON (AFX) - International Brand Licensing PLC said its sales in the first
half to end-June were buoyed by exceptional sales of the Admiral England cricket
replica kit in advance of, and during, the long summer programme against
Australia.
With England well positioned in the current Ashes Series that continues
through to the middle of September, Admiral cricket sales in 2005 will achieve a
record level for the second successive year, the group said.
The company today reported a sharp rise in pretax profit in the first half
to 635,000 stg from 51,000 stg on turnover ot 1.46 mln stg, up from 1.33 mln.
The pretax figure includes an exceptional gain before tax of 534,000 stg
generated on the disposal of the Mountain Equipment trademarks.
Other than the cricket replicas, the group said Admiral sales at ASDA during
the first half of the year were below the levels of 2004 which themselves were
boosted by the Euro 2004 Football Championship.
However, with new products being launched during the second half of the
year, the board siad it is confident that overall sales at ASDA in 2005 will
show a strong increase on 2004 despite the difficult trading conditions of the
UK retail sector.
The company is presently involved in negotiations with potential Admiral
licensee partners in several other major international markets, and if
successfully concluded these new alliances will generate valuable additional
revenue streams in the years to come, the board added.
Chairman Adam Reynolds said the current year finds the company in a much
stronger and healthier position than at any time since its foundation.
"The board is very confident that future prospects are significant, and that
2005 will represent the start of a strong period of growth."

Interims out on Monday which is one month ahead of last year & is pretty quick as the year end was only 30/06/05.I assume we will have good figures reading between the lines. The FY results for 2004 took six months to come out.

CS's take on it.

International Brand Licensing - Final Results for the year ended December 2004

IBL has reported its results for the full year to December 2004 today.

Results

Turnover increased by £960k to £2,235k (2003: £1,275k). This is a 75% increase and reflects the successful launch of the Admiral brand in George at ASDA since May 2004. The increase also reflects strong sales of the England replica kit throughout the 2004 season. The resurgence of the England cricket team (who wear the Admiral logo on their cricket clothing) has been a boost to the sales of Admiral branded items (shirts, shoes, sporting kit, etc.) EBIT decreased by £3k to £289k (2003: £292k), but there were non-recurring expenses during the year. There was also an interest charge on the circa. £2.7m of debt (which has now been totally paid off) of £216k. The resultant loss before tax for the 2004 year was £505k (2003: Loss of £458k).

Sale of Mountain Equipment and repayment of outstanding debt

Royalties from the company's second brand, Mountain Equipment, were below forecast in the second half of 2004. As a result of this, and in order to solve the debt situation, IBL decided to sell the brand. ME was sold in April 2005 for £3m to Swiss Cutley, the European Licensee. The brand was acquired for £1.8m in 1999. The £3m cash has enabled IBL to repay all its debt, and the company balance sheet is much improved. A new banking facility has been approved with the Royal Bank of Scotland.

Reduction in overheads

The results for 2004 show overheads of £1.9m. Included in this is a one off payment in respect of the late Lance Yates's estate for £400k. The company estimate that the £1.9m overhead cost will be reduced by about £900k in 2005. The savings will be made in accountants fees, salaries and office and other efficiencies. In addition, the yearly interest charge of around £200k has now disappeared with the debt now paid off, although there will still be a small interest charge in the full year 2005 results.

Going forward

The company is now fully focused on the Admiral Brand, and has got rid of its debt millstone. Mark Kirkland, the finance director, has resigned to pursue other interests. He is replaced by Paul Foulger. Adam Reynolds, previously a non-executive director, has now been appointed non-executive Chairman. The current strong form of the England cricket team (who sport the Admiral logo) and the excitement of the Ashes cricket series is improving sales of Admiral branded kit in ASDA and at cricket grounds. Admiral also part-sponsors 20/20 cricket. 20/20 has brought the crowds back to cricket, and fuelled interest in the game. 2006 brings the Football World Cup, and with ASDA able to sell football shirts/kit with the Admiral logo on, this should mean 2006 will be IBL's its strongest year yet. 2007 brings the World Cup Cricket. IBL will also continue to target new territories for the Admiral brand.

The company made a £500k loss in 2004. The company should have up to £900 of overhead savings alone in 2005, and revenues look set to grow.

The one good thing I find is that the directors have given themselves options at 20p which I assume is a fair sign that they feel is a price which is unlikely to be around for very long.

This in itself is not unusual, but given the changes to the financials over the past year or so, some more verbal explanation in the Chairman's (and CEO's) statement would have been welcome.
