New analysis from Frost & Sullivan ( The Asia Pacific Biometrics Market, finds that the market earned revenues of over $165 million in 2009 for hardware only and estimates this to reach $700.7 million in 2015. "The market is still in the growth stage, and new avenues of opportunity are opening up for investors in both security and database management applications," says Frost & Sullivan Industry Analyst Navin Rajendra. "As more countries adopt national ID projects and e-Passport programs, the market is expected to gain momentum." | ![]() igoe104

05/3/2010 09:37 | From wikipedia: A Markman hearing is a pretrial hearing in a U.S. District Court during which a judge examines evidence from all parties on the appropriate meanings of relevant key words used in a patent claim, when patent infringement is alleged by a plaintiff. It is also known as a "Claim Construction Hearing". Holding a Markman hearing in patent infringement cases has been common practice since the U.S. Supreme Court, in the case of Markman v. Westview Instruments, Inc., found that the language of a patent is a matter of law for a judge to decide, not a matter of fact for a jury to decide. In the United States, juries determine facts and judges determine matters of law. Markman hearings are important, since the court determines patent infringement cases by the interpretation of claims. A Markman hearing may encourage settlement, since the judge's claim construction finding can indicate a likely outcome for the patent infringement case as a whole. Markman hearings are before a judge, and generally take place before trial. A Markman hearing may occur before the close of discovery, along with a motion for preliminary injunction, or at the end of discovery, in relation to a motion for summary judgment. A Markman hearing may also be held after the trial begins, but before jury selection. The evidence considered in a Markman hearing falls into two categories: intrinsic and extrinsic. Intrinsic evidence consists of the patent documentation and any prosecution history of the patent. Extrinsic evidence is testimony, expert opinion, or other unwritten sources; extrinsic evidence may not contradict intrinsic evidence. | ![]() wjccghcc

04/3/2010 12:43 | Great write-up aphro, hope you enjoy the rest of your hols. (and dont get drunk and get any taxi rides, with casino winnings) Anyway i see one of our distant partners oberthur have started too issue frac cards for doctors, you got to fancy a igp involvement in this one. Oberthur Technologies, a global leader in the delivery of high security solutions and the #1 provider of smart credentials to the U.S. Federal government, is supplying doctors and first responders with FIPS 201 compliant, physical and logical access Personal Identify Verification (PIV) cards to assist in response to disaster. ps if igp establish themself in the FRAC card market, usa emergency workers, firemen, police, hospital workers etc. it will be very rewarding, because i reckon their are 10,s of millions of emercency workers in the states. | ![]() igoe104
04/3/2010 09:29 | I must say Herald would not invest in such an illiquid share unless they were confident of being able to exit and although its only 400k Ms Potts will have rules about that sought of thing.I do wonder about the ambitions of IGP though. I d have rather seen a placing to fund new research or new sales staff in the emerging markets fueling growth and ultimately improving liquidity. However we have been diluted already(warrants) and I appreciate not suffering further . | ![]() pyman
03/3/2010 19:07 | Thanks APHRODITES, I appreciate the post. Someone else on the ii board has asked the same thing as me I notice today, so I'm borrowing your post if you don't mind and copying it there for that person also (full credit will accompany it naturally). I must admit, I've never heard of Katie Potts until the past couple of days, but did read their website and learn a bit more about her company and holdings. You all seem quite confident and positive about this latest move, so I shall rest easier following my initial concern. Thanks again, and enjoy your holiday, think I might go skiing soon myself. Regards iiCB | iicb
03/3/2010 14:06 | iiCB Sitting here on holiday in Antigua I found the announcement that Mr Parris had sold 1m shares very interesting and certainly good news for the share. Whatever manipulation MM's do there was no way an institution could buy that number of shares in the market. The only way to attract institutions into the company is for the directors to start to release some of their holdings. In fact we could do with at least 2 more institutions like Herald on board. And Katie Potts certainly has a reputation for getting tech shares right. I see this as a very positive move having her around us now. I would still not rule out an MBO as this could still be part of a plan to take the company private. But the likelihood is more remote now. I would like to see the directors holdings down to 25% via bringing two more large institutions on board and then to see them active in the market moping up any shares that were on offer. We would then see the share price up to 70p+. The only problem with this is that it would not necessarily improve IGP's liquidity in the market. But what is very clear,IGP does not need more new money at this time otherwise it would have made a placement with Herald. What a pity this Court case is still ongoing. Even so, I am sure Katie Potts would not have invested at this time unless she had received a positive update on the legal process over here. A good time to put a few more shares in the portfolio if the MM's try to bring the price back again. But somehow I do not think they will try to play that game now, unless they in in league with Katie to rock the boat to help her buy more stock!!! Off to the beach now for the sun and a long cool beer. | aphrodites

02/3/2010 19:36 | Thanks pyman - hadn't checked for a while. Anything over 1.2mm cards and IGP get the full license fee which I'd estimate as $2-4 per card from the RSA repayment. So that's a nice $600k minimum once they're all issued. | ![]() wjccghcc
