05/4/2023 12:43 | The pitch from tech companies is clear: AI can make you more productive and eliminate the grunt work. As Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella put it during a presentation on Thursday, “We believe this next generation of AI will unlock a new wave of productivity growth: powerful copilots designed to remove the drudgery from our daily tasks and jobs, freeing us to rediscover the joy of creation.” | ![]() hazl

05/4/2023 10:29 | Since then, the technology — which Microsoft made a “multibillion dollar” investment in earlier this year — has only improved. Earlier this week, OpenAI unveiled GPT-4, a more powerful version of the technology that underpins ChatGPT, and which promises to blow previous iterations out of the water. In early tests and a company demo, GPT-4 was used to draft lawsuits, build a working website from a hand-drawn sketch and recreate iconic games such as Pong, Tetris or Snake with very little to no prior coding experience. GPT-4 is a large language model that has been trained on vast troves of online data to generate responses to user prompts. | ![]() hazl
05/4/2023 10:24 | As you can see we are in a very dramatically new and revolutionary field. We live in fast moving times. This doesn't happen over night though and businesses are struggling. That is why I think the naysayers are wrong to write this off so quickly. Look at the big names in that list above, that will use this facility! We are ahead of the pack. Things could get very interesting here if they can market themselves well....appeal to the targeted companies vulnerabilities....m I haven't done what some here have done...been here from the beginning or met management but it is clear, that all of those posters above, liked what they saw and initially were willing to pay more for the opportunity. I believe that is in part because some of management have had experience in Goldman Sachs and elsewhere, and are totally upto speed, on how lucrative this industry could be. Downside? Sure. Convertible loan notes ...I don't like those . But the drop I believe has been over done when I think of the potential here. The future will happen and lots of jobs will be lost in different industries, companies will save money as this occurs. IMO | ![]() hazl

05/4/2023 10:11 | New York CNN — In just a few months, you’ll be able to ask a virtual assistant to transcribe meeting notes during a work call, summarize long email threads to quickly draft suggested replies, quickly create a specific chart in Excel, and turn a Word document into a PowerPoint presentation in seconds. And that’s just on Microsoft’s 365 platforms. Over the past week, a rapidly evolving artificial intelligence landscape seemed to leap ahead again. Microsoft and Google each unveiled new AI-powered features for their signature productivity tools and OpenAI introduced its next-generation version of the technology that underpins its viral chatbot tool, ChatGPT. Suddenly, AI tools, which have long operated in the background of many services, are now more powerful and more visible across a wide and growing range of workplace tools. Google’s new features, for example, promise to help “brainstorm OpenAI, Microsoft and Google are at the forefront of this trend, but they’re not alone. IBM, Amazon, Baidu and Tencent are working on similar technologies. A long list of startups are also developing AI writing assistants and image generators. | ![]() hazl

05/4/2023 09:33 | I have tried to pick a few that might just win out.... no guarantees. I take no notice of the naysayers as it is just sour grapes or shorters that provide the ammunition...as they wouldn't take notice of me if the boot was on the other foot. Today just reflects the poor show in America last night, in my opinion. However if there is some evidence that they have gained contracts in this environment then hopefully that will be a catalyst for rises....who knows? | ![]() hazl
05/4/2023 09:29 | However the thing you can guarantee is that things always change in the stock market. For the brave those that dip a toe in here and there, in a beatened down stock, can sometimes get their reward. In fairness I am not sure how long the dire plunge will last ...there is trouble everywhere as we know. But in the past ....in my experience...there have always some that go against the grain, either they suddenly become hot like oil or gold or AI or they are just so low. | ![]() hazl

05/4/2023 09:23 | There are two important contraindicators as I see it. The first big factor is that AI is very prevalent as a topic. The general public is now aware of it and the shares have been hot in the US. In contrast we are threatened with a recession.... the stock market has charts like this all over the place... see the miners. People are lucky if they get a trade right and the idea of a share for the future is likely only in the minds of a few. They will see how low they go. There is also noise about regulation needed for AI. This eats away at people's appetite. | ![]() hazl |
