They need to up their game on a few channels including the website. Marketing is critical but overall Ingenta comes across as a bit olde worlde and slow. Perhaps their customer base likes that........ |
They state Sales and marketing expenses - £757,000
Is that high for Publishing, music, and IP. Bear in mind they are targeting several countries |
...I have always been surprised by the high spend on marketing, year after year.....which has been producing almost flat turnover (but some results in recent times with first sales to the music IP sector)
which for me puts in question the high amount spent on marketing & whether it should be reduced. There has to imo be a % return from optional expenditure, or there should be. |
I hope so. The dribble of selling may be people seeing yield elsewhere if they have given up on growth here. If they don't grow the top line then it's finished or shake-up needed in management and some new blood. |
They are talking of spending more on sales and marketing. They do also seem to be making progress in new verticals.
Both these factors should hopefully see them raising revenues. |
Needs proof of top-line moving up. Not much more they can do to improve margins. Lean enough. Do they have something new their market wants and can they go sell it? This would move nicely if there was some useful traction at the top line. |
% fall from 140-180p is quite a shock |
Probably following a Director, S. White, who is related to Kestrel Partner selling 100,000 @ 139.72 on 31st May. Good timing?? |
I wonder what caused the sudden sell off? |
They need a convuncing plan for top line growth with proof it's working. |
Market seems to be in retreat at moment generally due to :-
Summer doldrums Election Depression : isn't there a decent party to vote for ? Investors impatient for interest rate cuts Maybe impatient investors wanting more from Ingenta even etc etc |
Well that was weird. Managed to buy back most of mine at sub 104p. |
So someone sold 100K and someone bought 100K. Will this be the seller done for a while? Helps explain some of the recent price performance. |
Ingenta are doing an Investor Meets Company presentation :-

Totally agree richjp. Top line growth critical else a complete value trap. Such growth would also increase any sale value very nicely as it falls through. What could ING acquire if not sold? |
The problem is the growth is so slow.
After all the reorganisation and operational streamlining they have done, I think it is ripe for a takeover. The question us how much will anyone be prepared to pay. |
shareholder assets are up £1.6m imo. (9.2-3.6= £5.6m for '23; 2022 = 8.6-4.6= £4m £5.6m-£4m = £1.6m
pretty good. and paid out £500k in divis, so real increase in assets if had not paid any divi = 1.6+ 0.5 = £2.1m
the co. cap. value is too low imo for that annual increase.
-----------
some mixed results. USA turnover impressive % increase, & hopefully more to come. UK turnover down. not impressive.
well, surely a lot more opportunities in USA than in the smaller UK ...in 2024 perhaps we will see USA be bigger than that for the UK, which I assume would be a first.
------
15.5p diluted eps. share price p/e is <10, which is surely far too cheap |
No IMC = no investor meet company meeting (unlike last year and the last two interims, all of which saw management present to private investors). |
....new venture in to the music IP sector has done very well. Well done ING. |
lease payments. leasing liabilities paid off.
anyone understand that ?
given up some offices ? can we expect profit to rise as a result ? annual impact ? |
Good results. Pity no IMC. |
They have optimised efficiency. Emphasis mine.
"Having won a number of key new customer accounts, and demonstrated that with our streamlined operating structure we can deliver new business more profitably, we are EXPECTING ANY NEW FUTURE REVENUES TO MAKE A SUBSTANTIAL CONTRIBUTION TO OUR PROFITS AND CASH FLOWS."
Top line growth will largely drop through to the bottom. I think top line will grow given the foundation set.
DYOR etc. |
Ingenta PLC - Oxford, England-based provider of software and services to the publishing industry - Says it intends to release its 2023 results this month, noting that underlying trading performance is expected to be as it announced in January. ‘Current trading continues to be in line with management expectations, with cash flow ahead of budget and the company on track to deliver a further year of solid progress,’ Ingenta says. |
The company said on Friday cash flow to date for the current has been has been ahead of expectations.
Another year of solid growth and most likely increased dividend.
Cash at 31/12/2023 was £2.7m , will be interesting to know how much it's increased so far this year. |
