Doubt RKW or ONWD would be interested until there is a reliable sign of top-line growth. No surprise if Kestrel sell down further to allocate to growth potential elsewhere.
Lovely little company but if they don't go up a gear on revenue it will only ever be a dividend source. To date the cost base has been excellent.
ING have to prove they can get sales moving whilst maintaining margin. Price will certainly respond if they manage that. |
Looking at the updated significant shareholders on the co website raises a few queries.Shareholders such as the Emslie family, Prem Man(mini fund) have fallen below 3% , cannacord and criseren have let 100k at least go a piece.No rns as yet , the website was only updated on the 15th this month so maybe any day?
Would be nice to think a new shareholder would appear to shake things up a tad.

At this price (mid 80's) it becomes a dividend play yielding nearly 5%, always assuming it can be maintained. The business is in transition with a steady decline in legacy products and recent hesitancy in the progress of new contracts. The next update, probably early in the New Year, will be key. Worth watching for as a return to hoped for rate of contract progression could justify a sharp recovery. |

Last time I looked Kestrel still represented 22% (just over) of the shares in the market but now White has gone they have no BoD representation.
If White remains at Kestrel is this sending some message or will some new Kestrel BoD appointment be made? Perhaps Royde will be put in now his time at IQGEO is coming to a close with their sale to KKR? |
Must not be convinced they can achieve top line growth because if they can this will be fine. |

then I would argue that the strategy needs throwing in the bin !!

if the marketing spend has been £7million over the last 10 years
how long will it take until the returns on that spend pay back the investment ?
(the spend in the first 5 years, of £3.5 million....that is history. return of £0-100k increase in PAT ??
if its 100k over 5 years, that a return 100/3500 or a about 3.3%.
The marketing spend in years 0-5 will not give any return now imo. The rest of the spend is a write off.
so, a loss of 3.5m - 0.1m= £3.4 loss.
Imo the return from the marketing spend is too low.
And changes are needed imo |

One thing I can say, they didn't spend it on keeping their website up to date.
Perhaps they waste the money but Marketing is critical.

Hats off to their lean operations and cost control so far, if only they can drive the top line all will be well. |
