On Bloomberg it was mentioned that ICI has shot up on rumours of an AKZO takeover.
Might not be true though. Hope the Stock Exchange or the Takeover Panel forces some sort of clarification.

I do not know if there has been any developments on ICI since the UK market closed, but, I just noticed on my spreadbetting account that ICI is quoted at 10 -12p higher than the UK close.
It will either open higher because of strong US demand after our market closed or something good is going to be announced.
Whatever, I hope it will not be a damp squib.

Broker snap: ICI seen in the mix

LONDON (ShareCast) - Chemical and paints group ICI (LSE: ICI.L - news) received a boost this morning after Citigroup upgraded the shares to 'buy' from 'hold' in a note on the Global Paints & Coatings sector.

The broker highlighted the sector's consolidation prospects, with ICI and Valspar (NYSE: VAL - news) identified as the most likely to attract attention, although ICI could indeed be a predator itself.

As a result, the price target goes up to 550p from 420p.

What would that do to ICI's share price ?

Aussiedonnie; remember what I said about us looking at the share price when it is £5 and wondering why we did not buy an extra few.

Akzo refuse to rule out bid for ICI!

Sales at Akzo Nobel's mainstay unit, Coatings, rose to 1.494 bln eur from 1.355 bln a year earlier, while operating income rose to 78 mln eur from 42 mln.
Akzo Nobel said overall performance of all units in the Coatings division was strong, with some margin pressure in Decorative Coatings while the company was able to increase operating profit despite higher raw materials costs.


Akzo Nobel to look 'seriously' at bids for Organon but will stick with IPO

AMSTERDAM (AFX) - Akzo Nobel NV said it will look 'seriously' at any bids coming in for its Organon BioSciences, but that it will hold on to its plans to separately list the division.
'We have in the past looked seriously at bids and we have the duty to look at any news bids as they come in, but we are sticking to our IPO plans,' Akzo Nobel CEO Hans Wijers said this morning during a press conference on the fourth-quarter earnings.
Akzo Nobel (Amsterdam: AKZA.AS - news) said in an earlier statement that it intends to arrange and IPO for Organon during the coming weeks.
