cant see what that deal has got to do with anything. its done, why would Akzo interfere?. and market liked the deal sending Givaudan to record highs

most likely thing delaying it is christmas, but if they dont deny it speculation will just keep building

I doubt anything will happen until the Quest sale goes through, as that currently reduces the attractiveness of ICI to Akzo - especially since Givaudan are paying over the odds. Another buyer is unlikely to do that.

I think it's some serious profit taking. The market as a whole is down significantly the last few days and ICI is bound to go down with it. Then add the big jump last week and I am sure the professionals (I'm not one of them) got out quickly.)

Imperial Chemical In ICI Baa3/P-3 ratings on review for upgrade by Moody's
LONDON (AFX) - Moody's Investors Service has placed the Baa3 senior
unsecured debt rating of Imperial Chemical Industries PLC (ICI) and its
guaranteed subsidiaries under review for possible upgrade following the
announcement yesterday of the sale of the group's flavours and fragrance
business Quest to Givaudan AG for 1.2 bln stg.
Moody's said the P-3 rating for the guaranteed commercial paper programmes
of ICI Wilmington Inc and ICI Finance plc have also been placed under review for
possible upgrade.
The rating review reflects Moody's view that the proposed disposal that
remains at this stage subject to customary approvals and is expected to close
during the first quarter of fiscal 2007, would give ICI the opportunity to
significantly reduce its fully adjusted debt on a sustainable basis and position
its key credit metrics more solidly within the Baa category.

Chicken - right now it's close to 376/7...today.

A close for two days, 5 points or more below that and I'm afraid it's all over for the uptrend, BUT...that hasn't happened yet. No Sir.
