18/1/2007 11:01 | thanks for posting that. if Akzo sold organon for cash they could probably afford to buy them both. rhodia not in paints | chemical_ali
18/1/2007 10:48 | On Bloomberg it stated that Akzo may wish to purchase Rhodia(if I remember the name correctly). It does not seem to have had any effect on ICIs' share price Obviously traders do not believe it. Who cares, as long as the share price of ICI keeps on the up. | whatwoman

14/1/2007 19:37 | Fascinating article in FT about Akzo Nobel shifting head office from Arhhem to Amsterdam, right next door to ABN AMRO. Apparently confirmed late on Friday, but to be officially announced tomorrow in traditonal new year address to staff. Hopes to boost group profile ahead of Organon IPO and, it would seem, international expansion. | chemical_ali
13/1/2007 16:04 | Phew, You have got me counting my profits already. | whatwoman
12/1/2007 09:59 | see the FT Lex column on ICI The really good news, however, is that, after selling Quest, ICI's leaner profile and cleaner balance sheet make it attractive on a standalone basis too. | eldeen

10/1/2007 08:29 | telegraph >>>> ICI again among 'targets' as analysts fuel takeover talk All the old takeover tales were wheeled back out again yesterday, with ICI, Wolseley and SIG touted as potential targets. This time, however, it was the analysts which sparked the stories. For the past few weeks, chemicals group ICI has been touted as a takeover target for Dutch group Akzo Nobel, possibly at around 550p-a-share. Merrill Lynch gave the tale further credence, agreeing that "with its streamlined portfolio, lower pension deficit and net cash ICI is a potential bid target". The broker added that this was not the only reason why the shares should show further upside. It lifted its price objective to 515p from 470p, explaining: "We expect ICI to announce new targets and strategic priorities on February 8 which should underpin higher profits from Paints and National Starch." ICI gained 9 to 460p. | eldeen
09/1/2007 14:45 | wonder how much the falling oil price will boost earnings by | chemical_ali
08/1/2007 22:13 | thanks chemical-ali ;-) | yasmina
08/1/2007 20:32 | they wouldnt want to bid too low as it would leave it open for rival corporate and private equity bidders to move in creating an auction process. they may as well get the price right to start with or risk alot of inconvenience ICI shareholder vote in a couple of weeks, followed soon after by the results, proforma balance sheet will be net cash, P/E not so high and oil price tumbling while global economies look healthy | chemical_ali
08/1/2007 16:11 | I will grab it with both hands if anybody offers £6 | whatwoman |
