Maybe that early rally has sucked a lot of speculative buyers in and this may actually end the day red.

The prime assets will be picked up for very little.
The Company was already at a very high P/E before the Apple news. Now, rather than carry on as a going concern, the Directors have decided to sell for as much as they can get.
The Co may be broken up.
As yet there are NO bidders for anything.

Because the fall will be very sharp.
There may be no bids for the whole company.

Yes it would be odd to be shorting right now, very odd, or foolish even.

£500m is peanuts to some of the big players being mentioned regarding bids for IMG.

Don't hold but I can't understand why anyone would short a stock where there are multiple bidders - takes all sorts

It’s not about the profits, it’s about the technology and IP. Company’s like this have a history of selling a lot higher due the patents they hold and the rest.

WE shall see - that values this non profit making Co that has just lost it's biggest customer, at circa £100m. A very generous valuation.

I'm with sheephearder,

nice to see someone with a sensible view, obviously based on some experience.
Good luck to those who choose to hold.
I have a hefty short position.
It may take several months but I see this falling to below £100m MC so under 35p per share.

I will be happy with 225p.

Which is why there is a good chance of the price going up. Many Chinese and others view PowerVR as high quality and due to being Japanese owned don’t like ARM. Plus IMG have a number of key IP areas that are ahead of ARM which will be of interest to a lot of other companies. But there is no point arguing aver this, time will tell.

The Tsinghua Unigroup has been given $22bn from the state, part of which is to buy up company’s like IMG to build an in-house tech empire to move away from ARM and Intel. The Chinese government have a goal to move away from dependence on foreign semiconductors and don't underestimate how much many Chinese hate Japanese/ARM.

Going by the history of all the other GPU company’s that ended up for sale I expect IMG to be sold.

I'm going to go with no sale for the whole group. They will come, look, and walk away.

Think we'll see it go for £2 a share.
