20/12/2017 15:33 | Thanks. I've been following it for decades already so I know it works for me. I'm also retired but far from giving up my long term holdings, I increased them after retiring because I need the income and for me equities are a good way to deliver that using my system. Previously when I didn't need the income I could reinvest the divs and still do occasionally if I have some spare income. I don't accept the view you sometimes hear from advisers that you should reduce equity exposure the older you get. | anhar
20/12/2017 10:58 | Sounds good Anhar, wish you well with your approach. I guess much depends on age & financial status; I gave up the majority of my long term holdings when I fully retired - It's just a Game to me these days, especially since I found a ISA with no fees other than trading cost of £8 a trade. | gbh2
20/12/2017 09:56 | Anhar, a very interesting strategy! | ddubzy
20/12/2017 09:45 | I moved to TW. & lloy for the dividend, this is a back up but I mainly bought in ca 550p for the price gain potential. As Haywards implies, each to their own, as long you're making it pay :)) Agreed. In my system, I bought into IGG and all my holdings only for thedividends as I mention above and will sell at index yield if they ever get there. Using my figures above, IGG right now would have to be about 877p on its exisiting div if its yield were to match the FTSE100 and this would cause me to exit. This exit target moves around all the time with the index yield and the share's div. What happens to the share in between my purchase and hitting the exit, if it ever does, is of little or no concern to me so I rarely follow news, or comments or much else. I hold a widely diversified port of large cap shares and one interesting result after many years of doing this, is that as well as achiving my object of an income there has been quite a good capital gain overall, even though I don't invest for that reason. The diversification and large cap rules are to lower risk. | anhar

19/12/2017 20:18 | Ha ha Anhar, I remember you from the Vodafone thread a few years ago. You are an investor with a unusual/different stock picking and investment criteria. Different strokes, for different folks.. :) | haywards26
19/12/2017 14:22 | Only one thing matters to me, income. Latest annual rolling div 32.3p making a yield of 4.8% at 676p. FTSE100 yield 3.7% so I continue to hold until IGG yield falls to the index or forever, whichever comes first. No interest in share price, daily news, "Israelis" etc. (though what has Israel to do with IGG?) Great place for a holiday though. | anhar
19/12/2017 10:20 | Results end of next month, guess I'll stick around until I see what they have to offer. | gbh2
18/12/2017 13:04 | Thanks Daz I think it will depend on what pressure is bought on the Israelis to close down the snake pits they have allowed to flourish. I guess the snakes will then move elsewhere. I got a call from Libreville Gabon from someone who claimed to be in Manchester trying to interest me in Binary Options You would have to be a real muppet to give someone in Gabon DD authority for your bank account. | marksp2011
18/12/2017 10:35 | I listened to the conference call, the directors said that with even a short consulation period of a month and the time needed to implement new IT systems, they thought it unlikely that the proposals would be implemented before June next year, giving the firm time to react and the clear intention is to reclassify clients as elective professional as stated in the RNS, so they would be beyond the new rules, as the RNS states, the company believe that well over half of their clients could be re-classified. Also, the statement that the impact of the new rules would have less 10% impact on revenue includes some conservative assumptions, that clients wouldn't add money to their account to reduce leverage. Providers now would have to compete on service as advertising on leverage levels could no longer be used as a marketing tool and therein lies the risk that some private accounts might go overseas to unregulated providers. This impact was unknown. They also stated there were no plans to change the dividend, although that is always under review. As nothing worse has come to light, I've gone long for a trade. Hope that helps | daz
18/12/2017 10:32 | The big issue here is around the Israel based binary companies. This does nothing to impact them and for historical reasons the Israeli State wont hand over any of their citizens to other countries - a very firm no extradition policy. the EU can do what it wants......the problem wont go away.... the scammers will continue to operate. I dont mind holding IG... Plus 500 is another matter all together. Israel based and Aim......... two of my red flags IG would love these rules to be applied as long as they are applied to everyone evenly as it plays in to IGs strengths. I think it is right to stop the sharks in the binary markets there are too many muppets who need protecting from themselves and too many click bait sites leading the muppets to their doom. | marksp2011

18/12/2017 08:36 | Took small profit on 20% of position last week. Opportunity to pick it back up this am? Although moving fast ... | mnomis
18/12/2017 08:35 | Begs the question who "thought" they knew something good was on the cards, but I've picked up a few more this morning if only for the divi prospects. | gbh2
18/12/2017 08:19 | Wasn't the silly reaction the move up to 733p after substantially inline numbers, if one looks at full year cost guidance ??? | raffles the gentleman thug
18/12/2017 08:12 | Bought in this morning, silly reaction. | samdb
17/12/2017 18:48 | IG have applied for licence to operate is the US. “Official documentation published by the US National Futures Association shows that IG Group is preparing to expand into the US market. The company established a US subsidiary and appointed Mr Rupert Simon Toby Osbourne as CEO. The firm submitted its application for a retail forex dealer on the 28th of November. The company’s address coincides with the group’s active Chicago-based US subsidiary Nadex. IG Group has been the owner of the firm since 2007.” | super95
17/12/2017 14:08 | I considered selling out again last Friday but with the results due next month I held on in case there's any more optimistic increases in store. | gbh2
