26/4/2023 11:15 | davidosh, Well I have equity in an unlisted company and the dividends are good (except during Covid) but selling would be on a matched bargain basis where I don't necessarily trust the valuation. Holding is likely worth six figures and I'm not bothered to sell as I like the divis (over £10k annually) and assume the two majority shareholders will eventually orchestrate a trade sale (when one in a managerial role, retires). But whether to buy a stock ahead of de-listing, am less sure I would want to end up holding. Not surprisingly perhaps, there is a speculative bounce here given the fundamentals suggest a big yield and potential long-term trade sale if you want to tuck it away. But another rush to exit seems liable, closer to de-listing, then a queue of sellers on a matched bargain basis - possibly with the 85% holder able to set price. Admittedly, if this one achieves a benchmark 40p EPS as recently was consensus, and pays out say half of that (although consensus has projected 25p to 28p) then yes it's a whopping yield to have comfort for. But I thought I read, debt has shot up to pay dividends? Feb 2021 piece: IEnergizer, Inc. has received a $165 million loan financing backing a shareholder dividend and debt refinancing. CIT Group Inc.'s technology, media and telecommunications business is co-lead arranger and joint bookrunner, the companies said today. The debt financing includes a $150 million term loan and a $15 million revolving credit facility, according to the statement. | edmondj
26/4/2023 11:06 | I am clearly staring at posts from traders and not investors so I am posting this purely as a risk/reward analysis but I intend to have a meeting with the chair as this company cannot go from being a billion pound company to less than a £100m purely on a non operational announcement without it being an absolute bargain if there can be clarification on some matters going forward. I need the chairman and board to give clarity and confirmation on those and I know the major shareholders will want the same. This is a growth company that has paid a significant dividend. If that continues then whether it is on market or off market the value of the company is probably five to seven times greater than where it is now and we know the large shareholder who has requested this delisting really does like his dividends. That is an investor viewpoint with a longer term horizon than just today or even 35 minutes for some here. I have been invested in five companies that delisted and four have done very well and only one flopped....whilst one actually ten bagged from the delisting price so from my perspective if I know what is happening then I fear very little from a delist. | davidosh
