It would probably be a small div until they can farm out, that is of course, if they can farm out on decent terms?

They should sell northsea assets and use that proceeds to pay special dividend.

I've got a substantial holding in I3E and have been relaxed about the SP's stubborn inertia but my interest has been piqued by today's RNS.

Borrowing at low interest rates to invest in productive assets/activity sounds like a no-brainer but I'm not sure about the logic of paying dividends whilst at the same time borrowing money.

To my mind that is equivalent to borrowing the money being used to pay the dividends - which can't be a good idea.

In the 1980's I worked for LASMO - a FTSE 100 listed North Sea E&P. They were always a jam tomorrow kind of operation and I remember calculating that over a period of some years the divis they had paid out had all been matched by their increasing borrowing. After years of poor quality management they eventually succumbed to a disappointingly low ball bid. My options - which had looked impressive on paper - expired worthless.

I'll have to keep my eyes peeled here.

I really hope you are right and it happens as it should. Cheap finance to fast forward development of I3E assets at this high oil prices increasing the NPV by using optimum time (high oil, cheap capital). Using pure debt and nothing attached to it (warrants and or conversion clauses).

the abbot . Great post and exactly how the RNS should be objectively led. They acquired the Canadian assets at rock bottom prices in the pandemic through equity. Now’s the time to leverage those assets ( field development) through cheap finance.

It’s a very good RNS for those who can read.

...interesting, "near-term undertaking" ..."to introduce a measured amount of leverage onto our balance sheet" is what I picked up on as well! New debt may be most likely.

Mid to long term hold will see a very good profit for me, I currently have a nice profit. If Serenity is drilled Q1 2022 then its a long term hold for me.

fairdealer20, Posts: 4,043, Price: 11.30RE: what the hell is happening??Today 14:42Suspect Serenity is a "Millstone" around the neck of I3e. Possibly the uncertainty and going it alone (NO NO) is worrying the market. Majid needs to swallow his pride before the share price sinks lower.Such wisdom wasted on LSE should be at the heart of government. LolYou can't make it up.Gl all
