13/7/2021 13:59 | RNS type News from the 7th July PCELL, POWERCELL SWEDEN, (SE0006425815) PowerCell Sweden AB (publ) has received an order worth a total of SEK 10.9 million from British ZeroAvia. The order includes fuel cell stacks, fuel cell systems and engineering services and is expected to be delivered on an ongoing basis over a period of one year. The order is part of a cooperation agreement that the two companies have now entered into and which aims to develop a certifiable fuel cell system for commercial use in aviation within the framework of the British project HighFlyer 2. HighFlyer 2 aims to develop an emission-free 19-seater fuel cell-powered commercial aircraft. In this project, ZeroAvia will collaborate with PowerCell Sweden AB's British partner, the fuel cell integrator Hypermotive Ltd. The order includes fuel cell stacks, fuel cell systems and engineering services linked to the development of the new plane and is expected to be delivered continuously for one year. The total order value amounts to SEK 10.9 million. In September last year, ZeroAvia conducted the world's first hydrogen electric flight with a commercial aircraft. On board the plane was a PowerCell MS-100 fuel cell system. PowerCell Sweden has earlier this year received two orders for fuel cell systems from ZeroAvia, which the company also communicated. “From a sustainability perspective, the importance of cooperation can hardly be exaggerated because it is about solving one of the really big environmental challenges in the transport area - how aviation should become more environmentally friendly. But the aviation industry also has unique requirements for both stability and performance and that we as a company are competitive in such a demanding segment is a clear confirmation of our technological position as well as our competence and our business offering ", says Richard Berkling, CEO of PowerCell Sweden AB. "Hydrogen is the only viable option for large emission-free aircraft because it has three times the specific energy content of aviation fuel and more than 100 times as high as today's best batteries," said Val Miftakhov, founder and CEO of ZeroAvia. “Hydrogen-powe | ![]() zingaro | |
