I'm still not convinced by CCS.

.

"The analysis also considered the use of hydrogen across the energy system.

It found that the development of hydrogen uses and associated infrastructure (electrolysers, natural gas reformers, biomass gasifiers, CCS infrastructure, hydrogen turbines and storage) for 2050 has “significant system benefits if coordinated effectively”.

Driving this value is the ability of the system to optimise production from electrolysers to coincide with high energy supply times, store hydrogen and then use it for heating, power production and other applications across transport and industry.

However, there is a need to diversify hydrogen production routes (from electricity and water, gas and biomass) and develop CCS infrastructure at scale to deliver a hydrogen future cost effectively, highlighted the report".

"The 322 million tonnes of green and electrolytic hydrogen in 2050 would require a global electrolyser capacity of 3,585GW, up from about 300MW today, and roughly 14,500TWh of electricity — about 20% of the world’s electricity supply (71,164TWh). Electrolysers are machines that split water molecules into hydrogen and oxygen using an electric current".

“Rolling out electrolysers at the pace required in the NZE [Net-Zero Emissions by 2050 scenario] is a key challenge given the lack of manufacturing capacity today, as is ensuring the availability of sufficient electricity generation capacity,” the IEA report says.

"The country also has one of Europe’s most active corporate renewables markets, an attractive merchant power market, and has also announced a 2030 target for 4GW of green hydrogen and 20GW of power storage".

If anyone sees further information on the listing, please post. I could be in for a few pounds. Thanks.

"Air Liquide, Anglo American, Bloom Energy, CF Industries, Chart Industries, Cummins, Hyundai, Linde, McDermott, Shell and Toyota. Aside from the fact these are all proven heavyweights and progressive innovators in energy, what else do these 11 companies have in common? They’re all betting big on hydrogen".

"The global hydrogen electrolyser market is forecast to mushroom “one-thousand-fold” by 2040, with some 213.5GW of projects on the slate for development by 2040 driven by a bullish, fast-emerging European play, according to a new report from Aurora Energy Research.

The UK analyst highlights a pipeline of over 9GW in Germany, 6GW in the Netherlands, and 4GW in Britain, all scheduled to be operational by the end of the decade, that will catalyse rapid growth from the current global electrolyser capacity, some 200MW"
