I've come to the conclusion that there is currently a news blackout due to the Shetland Islanders mounting an armed rebellion for Independence from Scotland due to the scale of the natural resources available to them to develop the economy rather than be bankrupted by the SNP.

Terry - I have no idea. It is rather unlikely that there is a genuinely price-neutral outcome...... so I would have expected to see a prompt announcement. On balance I'd guess an after-hours disappointment is more likely than a Monday strong success, because I don't think they could sit on it for more than a few hours at most, even if out of phone range.But it might just be that there was some sort of technical success that isn't an obvious commercial success? I'll leave that to others - who know what was planned - to decide.

I don't understand why the announcement that a rig has moved, and therefore drilling has finished, tells anyone anything either way?

Terry's point is a good one. Large separate accumulation, large connected accumulation, neither of these; all are material results. As long as nobody knows the outcome though, what's the problem?

Let's see if we're still talking about this on Monday..

I'm neutral here. But I don't get why the rig moves from an undersea explo well site and there is apparently no price-sensitive event that compels release of news. After all, every oil and gas company that drills a material well is forced into making an announcement as soon as they have finished testing (and often once they have finished drilling - and often before they have complete information).......so surely the only logical conclusion (if the rig has really moved) is that there is nothing dramatic that is considered to be particularly price-sensitive?If so, that suggests an inconclusive outcome to me. Either that or something will be out after hours?

I've finally received some information from my source. Apparently the delay is due to Dr Robert Trice jumping off the Rig into the Sea shouting pieces of eight, pieces of eight whatever that means.

Why finance at 55p?

More likely is to announce and then do two months of heavy marketing to the newspapers, tipsters and high net worths then do the placing at 75p if they want any funding.

A couple of drills, one into warwick and the second into Typhon could massively add value.
