yes but look at Boris - he's cynically asking companies to pay more. Paying more will result in higher inflation everywhere which will keep fuelling the inflation further. In the USA I think this is even worse.

Being cynical, no one is expecting the current high inflation to be reversed. What is expected is that prices will pause at this new higher level rather than continue on up (the hyper inflation model, where it becomes a vicious circle).

Really hard on the poor and JAMs unless they get rises which is how hyperinflation gets into its stride (and inflates away the debt mountain).

of course inflation is high and rampant everywhere - and once prices go up they rarely go back to the same levels as before.

I totally agree with you, charlieeee, re Goita and the shouts of democracy by African regimes that don't give even lip service to democracy back home. Complaints by Chad? It ranks as the most corrupt country in the world.

As for France, it's time for another Revolution, IMO. Their elite make ours look like almost decent human beings.

The so called western leaders are a bunch of fools.

Biden on Afghanistan

Macron and his cohorts throwing a tantrum over "democracy" in Mali when the old regime had little more legitimacy than the new military regime (ditto Guinea). Why did they not have the foresight to stick to the mission against jihadists and leave internal politics to the Mali people?

How much more influence are they going to cede in petty demonstrations of their power?

Meanwhile, Russia and China tighten their grip on resources (and in Mali, the hydrogen discovery, the fuel of the future, is particularly interesting).

Goita may deliver far greater stability to Mali through economic prosperity than democracy: it does not really matter whether that is underpinned by French or Russian troops and the Russians might just make a better job of cooperation, starting with the supply of some decent equipment.

GP, agreed, that funding package got us up, running and cash generative today, I understand we have an offer in principle for a 2nd funding round from Coris too for Kouroussa as and when that moves forward, but IMO the further that goes out, the more cash we can squirrel away and the less we need to borrow, interest rates are not much different today and just erode profits at 8-10% on the debt..

The cash generation from Q3 out will be very interesting to see now we are debt free, only a couple of weeks to our update here (26.10.2020 ref)..

I think it's good to remind ourselves that thanks to Coris we have a great operation, debts repaid and cash generative.

#GP... only 9% interest too...! which was benchmark back then, today mine finance is not much different at 8-10%, interesting to note the Taurus funding package we backed out of was settled out of court a few years ago for USD2.5M instead of wasting a year or 2 on further litigation costs with an unknown outcome..

A poor day on the market generally but another day closer to our Q3 update.. :o)

jon, I wasn't suggesting the French were leaving, just pointing out that the France/ Mali relationship has deteriorated largely, if not entirely, due to Macron's decision to halve the number of French soldiers in Mali. A fuller story by the BBC four days ago:

The gold price continues to suffer from the strength of the Trade weighted Dollar which has just returned to pre-covid levels. I guess that is based on expectations of strong US economic numbers. Note that employment data is due this week. Inflation data doesn't seem to be important right now.

In addition, the row between the Mali leadership and Macron (and others)seems to be leading investors to give up on Mali succeeding in defeating ISIS et al.

Meanwhile, HUM is giving us nothing on drilling results, financing Kouroussa and, perhaps, an indication of some improvement in 3rd qtr production.

added a few more yesterday in the 15p range glad to have kept some firepower to average down some more .Tiny amount of shares being used to bring HUM lower still think its far too cheap with all existing assets not betting the farm on it but have a very decent holding now.

this stock is cascading lower I reckon confidence has gone so everybody is cutting their losses now, you know salvaging whatever they can. It's got the point where nobody cares about the potential

The bid is sipping into the 14s now. Where is the bottom?

I do wonder if the market knows something I don't here. Maybe about a poor quarter's production due to heavy rains. But you'd think a fair amount of bad news was already built into the price. Market cap is less than £60m for a debt free 100K p.a. gold producer (with a high AISC, sure, but still...)

I am if you're a buyer Chesty... Future dividend per share will be a multiple of these prices come 5 years time.

Ps thanks for buying our Cora shares, some said spinning off and dumping Sanankoro onto unsuspecting PI's would never work or help pay for a debt free profitable 100k gold mine.

Chicken feed here for me, purchased my holdings at a 55% discount to book value. That means it's a nigh on risk free punt. Now I'm not saying that Cora is a pump and dump or doesn't have any assets but being priced at 950% of tangible book isn't a good look :-P
