Ex dividend date 5 October, payment to take place in November. Not sure why that would be an issue worth noting

Not as good as hoped for - basically keep sailing into the wind and hope we come out the other side intact.

I don't like terms like "strategic opex" (as in "Adjusted EBITDA and Adjusted EBITA up 4% excluding the GBP2.2m strategic opex") but I can see the sense in continuing to invest in an upgraded sales team.

Performance is also flattered by accounting smoke and mirrors with regard to depreciation policies - "The positive performance in Operating Profit of GBP10.8m, GBP0.6m higher than GBP10.2m H1 FY22 was aided by an extension to our Useful Economic Lives (UEL) of intangible and tangible fixed assets ... This resulted in lower depreciation and amortisation during H1 23 of GBP1.0m and GBP1.3m respectively."

I'll stay invested for the time-being but definitely won't be adding any more.

DYOR and all that.

2 pig,
Totally agree with directors dipping into their pockets.

Yes, the market has reacted to the RNS.

Tough market, but determined management. Will this year be the end of their "strategic investment" so 2024 year clear of this capex?

Would any conspiracy theorists out there like to have a go at interpreting today's price action (especially the preponderance of "O" trades for 1, 3 or 4 shares)? I fell through my stop-loss yesterday but decided to hold on and see what the results bring - admittedly a difficult market to be in but no specific bad news to account for the recent fall. From what I can see their business plan makes sense and is being well executed - happy to take a risk and sit tight a while longer.

Builders have been going bust forever. HSS once had 200m of debt and 30m of ebitda and still survived so todays numbers are hardly a challenge.
