Riots break out in China as starving residents revolt against ‘Zero COVID’ lockdown

Gravitas: Shanghai: Residents beaten up by healthcare workers

------------

MI5’s maxim is that society is “four meals away from anarchy”. In other words, the security agency believes that Britain could be quickly reduced to large-scale disorder, including looting and rioting in the event of a catastrophe that stops the supply of food.

There was a convention centre in China with 10,000 people inside. One person gets a ping on their Covid app - it is RED. The whole centre goes on high alert, and locks everyone inside. People panic and try to make a break for it....

Despite Boris's failings and that nobody liking him - I wish to thank him for not going down the ZERO route like China, Japan, Australia, New Zealand etc. OK Boris hasn't been the answer that some of us would like, but he knows about deep state, and deep deep down he knows what is right.

There is a theme here on "ZERO"?

Shanghai lockdown: Economy shaken by zero-Covid measures

'Closed-loop living'
While some companies in Shanghai have decided to close during the lockdown, others in industries like financial services and car manufacturing have implemented so-called "closed-loop" systems, according to Ms Liu.

Essentially, this means that employees have to live as well as work at their offices or factories.

No contact with the outside world, perhaps the blue print in the new world. Maybe they don't have internet only "intranet" so they don't get outside news either?!

We didn't vote to make fuel horrifically expensive, to make our houses colder, personal transport unaffordable or to enrich already wealthy foreign companies with so-called green taxes. If there were reasonably priced and convenient alternatives to gas-powered heating and petrol powered motoring, most people would say, "Yes,please".

However, being forced to buy a £20000 heat pump which requires the cost of renovation of a house on top and a £50000 electric car which can cost up to £240 of electricity to 'fill' at some charging stations (3 times the cost of diesel) is something that should be a fifty to a hundred year target whilst technology and infrastructure catch up.

Are we really EVER going to be net zero carbon? The end of plastics, paints, pharmaceuticals, fertilisers and chemicals...or massive carbon-scrubbing on an industrial scale?

hxxps://www.wsj.com/articles/u-s-raises-fuel-efficiency-requirements-for-cars-and-light-trucks-11640016001

WASHINGTON—The Biden administration on Monday raised fuel-efficiency standards for passenger cars and light duty trucks, saying the new standards will reduce pollution and save consumers billions of dollars at the gas pump.

Auto makers must meet a fleetwide average of 55 miles a gallon for cars and light trucks by model year 2026, up from the 43 mpg standard set by the Trump administration for that year. The fleetwide mileage standard for the current 2021 model year is 40 mpg.

According to Circle Economy, the world consumes 100.6 billion tonnes of materials annually. Of this total, 3.2 billion tonnes of metals produced in 2019 would account for just 3% of our overall material consumption. In fact, the world’s annual production of cement alone is around 4.1 billion tonnes, dwarfing total metal production.

The world’s appetite for materials is growing with its population. As resource-intensive megatrends such as urbanization and electrification pick up the pace, our material pie will only get larger.

I just want to say, please enjoy the time you have now.

Enjoy your freedom with your car, motorbike and the ability to jump on a plane and go where you want. OK it isn't so easy now with the covid restrictions but I can't see it getting any easier. If you can't use the internet it is very difficult to book a flight (most of the shop travel agents have closed) or book at PCR test. So that is a lot of the elderly population not being able to travel. And even if they can book, they find out their travel insurance now costs many ££££s! This change has happened so quickly within 2 years. It is unlikely we are going back to the old normal - they call it the "new normal". People think when this Pandemic is over, things will go back to how it was in 2019. I can say safely, they won't. Many people don't know this.

In the last 30-40 years we've had more freedom than probably in all the time of the existence of the human race - which is about 6 million years.

It is cheap to own a car, or to jump on a plane and be on the other side of the world in a few hours. We live like kings. However it has come at a great cost. Whether or not you believe in climate change, those that run this planet have decided it is not sustainable for 8 billion odd people on the planet to consume the planets resources at this rate. More people are entering the middle class. We are living longer, and there are more of us, and we have more free time. With smartphones and the internet available to all, it has shown us more things that we can own, to buy, and places to go. We now want a million things, and we want them now.

Everyone wants to own a new car, everyone wants to travel, everyone wants to have a home and a holiday home. We look at social media and admire people with nice things - they are on the beach sipping drinks, or visiting a capital city abroad, or they just bought new clothes, and then all their friends and followers want to do the same. It's infectious. We have probably used up more of the Earth's resources in the last 100 years than during the whole time the Earth has been created 4.5 billion years ago. No wonder the billionaires like Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos and Richard Branson want to create rockets and space ships - we need another planet to consume.

The oil is scheduled to run out in 2050. We've already had to use Shale oil, and when that goes that's it. The last chance saloon. Jim Rogers, the legendary commodities investor once said we haven't found a large oil field like Ghawar in over 80 years.

I don't want to be a pessimist for the future - you shouldn't be. If you can adapt, it won't be a problem. The future is going to be very different to what we've known.

I have posted well and hold shares to the value of 150 pounds which is a lot more than many here as most lie about what they hold.
I give out what I feel is good advice.

ATM I don't work as why should I as my rent is paid, plus money on top and I don't have to pay fares to go to work or get up before noon.

I am looking for the right job something that pays a massive 15k per annum and I promise you with a job like that I would be very rich by the end of the first 12 months and go on a world cruise.

Shares tips, does anyone have decent ones, dead certs?
