Yes twigs lots of news flow to come v exciting glad i spotted this and did the research not many sub £40m cap companies on AIM that have anywhere near this upside Forecast annual profit from 2020 $80m thats not factoring in as you say the additional nickel and cobalt resource

jb, you're probably right. A change to EVs is disruptive in many ways. The tax base is an obvious one and it will need to be addressed, how is going to be primarily a political one and a decline in fuel duty will sharpen the debate, but, fiscal policy though out the world is moving in the direction of favouring EV over ICE and very few people think that is likely to change. The mix of taxes won't stop EVs, as I typed "free road tax" I admit I was thinking, how long will that last? But it doesn't really matter, EV is the future because that is what government and industry want long term. I suspect motor manufacturers are trying to hold EVs back as it threatens their existing capx until it has run it's course, but they are also worried about being left behind so they are probably going to have to write-off an awful lot of fixed capital. My guess is what really keeps Toyota and GM etc up at night are the Teslas and BYDs breaking their market shares by jumping to a new technology. So they will be forced down the EV road anyway, with >10kg of Ni per car with any luck!

Salmonn,Government are making billions from fuel tax revenues . How will the gap be filled ?I just reckon EV cars will taxed in some form, possibly an electricity taxSame as airport tax on fares which is passed onto the consumer .Bring green may help the climate over the long term but there will be 'green' tax as well

So JM's thinking on Ni in batteries is that there should be steady growth in demand over the medium term and that spikes in the Ni price are not desirable as it would encourage new entrants into the market. The good news is as I noted previously VW looking for ten year contract for Co is an indication where the EV battery market is going, i.e. commitment to Ni in cathodes for at least ten years. That's JM's steady growth, provided EV use takes off. I've heard car industry thinking is that when there is a £20k car with 200 miles plus range then there will be a mass market. I think that's right, the penny will drop for many people, once they've paid their 20 grand (or PCP equivalent) there are no oil changes, no engine, transmission, clutch, exhaust etc to go wrong and the "fuel" is the equivalent of 30p litre. And the road tax is free. This isn't about if EVs are better than ICEs it's just about what is going to happen. The £20k car 2020? just as HZM comes on line.
