04/9/2019 18:29 | alan@bj- Thanks. The upside, if you have an overlarge no. of holdings as I do, is that you don't have to spend so much time doing tax returns. I aim to get all my holdings into ISAs and then gains won't be taxable. However, I don't seem to have a problem with surplus gains at the moment! | bouleversee
04/9/2019 17:30 | It’s quite a long article and he didn’t say why he thought those companies in particular were plausible candidates. I haven’t got much in ISA’s. They’re okay for avoiding CGT on profits but the downside is you can’t offset your losses. | alan@bj
04/9/2019 16:59 | Does he say why? I hold Carr's as well as Hollywood and the former's share price is about what it was 5 yrs ago and the yield at today's price nothing to write home about. Also there is a large spread which is off-putting. Does he think they are undervalued? Never mind foreigners, my family and I all have large sums in our ISAs uninvested and earning nothing because we don't know what to buy, having accumulated quite a lot of large losses, crystallised as well as paper. | bouleversee
04/9/2019 14:46 | In an Investors' Chronicle article today, Mr Bearbull considers what sort of London-listed companies are most likely to appeal to foreigners with enhanced buying power, and concludes "As a taster, however, Hollywood Bowl (BOWL), Carr’s (CARR) and Wincanton (WIN) seem plausible, as – happily – do two more from the Bearbull portfolio, Vesuvius (VSVS) and Elementis (ELM)." | alan@bj

10/6/2019 16:09 | A positive review by Phil Oakley in Investors Chronicle last week (6th June), which concludes, "In a market where high-quality businesses are very richly priced, Hollywood Bowl looks to be an overlooked share at an attractive price that has the potential to reward long-term investors." | alan@bj

19/5/2019 13:07 | I will have to say thanks to Wan .. over on the AAZ thread for pointing out HUR .. .. But nice to see good company in both .. In General.. There seems to be an air of .. dare I say general depression around share indices at the moment.. but .. if you examine close enough .. there could be a near explosive up-side ... especially amongst small resource & mining co's .. (I also like some medical/biotech) Another little 'Bowl'... (again with a double bottom .. Rising 'W' pattern) on a weekly chart .. is Jadestone Energy.. which has just broken above resistance at 45p.. (now 54p) ... with strong momentum.. so may be worth examining. As far a sectors / commodities .. Oil has been in the doldrums for quite a while .. should be much higher (.. if only just .. due to QE & Inflation over the past 10 years) Gold has flat-lined .. and Silver looks to be on it's last legs .. chart wise at least (I know fundamentals say otherwise .. and have been banging that Drum for a long time on the Gold / Silver threads .. but .. charts is charts .. you can take the view that the price is being suppressed .. and take the opportunity to acquire some physical.. but a market can stay irrational for a very long time .. and 'Investing' .. also requires the 'Investor .. to have a sense of Timing.. Iron Ore however .. has doubled since 2013 lows .. making a W bottom (A double 'Bowl'.. .. with higher right hand 'Low') .. and now is challenging the interim high of 2017.. .. If it breaks through that resistance .. then a re-valuation of Iron ore miners & steel producers may be due. Soft Commodities .. Cocoa .. seems to be the only one in a rising Trend .. Oats seem to be turning from 2016 lows .. but the others .. seem to be caught in some deflationary spiral (coffee chart looks Dire .. to the extent I'm embarrassed not to have been shorting it from last Year .. when it broke through a bottom resistance.. going all the way back to 2005) .. Just posting as it's good to share ideas .. & post findings.. keep em' coming .. Bowls .. & Cup/handle chart patterns .. I find are very dependable indicators.. | k mon

19/5/2019 11:45 | KAV Some nice words in the morning note from the highly respected mining analyst John Meyer at share price Angel ref: LSE:KAV / www.kavangoresources Kavango Resources (KAV LN) 3.6p, Mkt Cap £5.7m – Laws of probability to be rewritten after Kavango strikes mineralisation in first and second drill holes under Karoo sand in Botswana Kavango, which is exploring for a large-scale bushveld igneous-type mineralisation reports results from a second drill hole in Botswana. The team which are highly experienced in the geology of the region have used geophysical data and remote sensing to establish drilling locations. Remarkably, the first drill hole hit mineralisation under the sandy Karoo sediments Even more remarkably the second drill hole is reported to have also hit mineralisation including copper in chalcopyrite with a 1.5% XRF gun reading. X-Ray Frequency gun readings are not considered to be reliable due to their potential for miss-reporting but we do place some value on the readings when in the honorable hands of Messrs. Foster and Moles. The first drill hole hit a 200m zone of intensely altered rock with indicative cobalt values of up to 0.9%, averaging 0.2% cobalt and >70m of elevated copper, zinc, lead and nickel values. Conclusion: Kavango is worth watching and we await results from drill core assays. While we never doubted the skill of the geological team we are surprised and impressed to see two sets of mineralised results in so short a time frame. Well done team! | cpap man

19/5/2019 11:38 | ... Finding quite a few of these formations.. especially on the longer term [Monthly / weekly] chart patterns.. (so a buy & hold strategy .. rather than for daily / trading ) So here's another Early days yet .. HUR .. Hurricane Energy.. Higher Lows .. Rising wedge ... knocking on resistance between Late 50's to 70p.. ... and a Cup & Handle - stretching back over two years .. - I know .. not strictly a Bowl .. but a nice addition to any dinner set. .. To show how a Bowl can turn out .. ... Have a look at AAZ .. Going back to 2012.. topped at 55 in 2012 ... then a rounded decline to around 6p .. circa 2015 - 2016.. .. then (via a few cup & handles .. to 95p Today.. (I Hold .. and have done since the mid 30's ... as there was a C&H forming .. so did the decent thing ... & took a SIPP... :0) These chart formations .. can be really powerful ... so well worth looking out for. ... just have to be a bit patient... | k mon |
