There will be lots of takeover bids activity in this sector soon. UK share are so cheap. For a miner valued at less than £320 million with a turnover of over £800 million and profit of £130 m it is very cheap indeed. I can easily see the Mexican silver/gold miner Fresnillo (FRES) swallowing HOC paying peanuts for getting all its geographically close Peruvian mines. Wood Group (WG.) just being approached. 2023 will be the year of acquisition of UK cheap shares.

The permit will be OK, or maybe a bit of compromise, IMO.
The gov don't want to tell 1,700 workers (and their families) that they lost their jobs and no chance of the ex-workers supporting their families in the current cost of living crisis.

Trader you are right to say the the ongoing Inmaculada permit could well be denied, the decision has been postponed enough and many locals are very anti, or well be allowed. However, at the last quarterly presentation, the board seemed to suggest the decision will be neither, ie it is non binary. They might mean partial permission, permission with conditions or a short term permit while it is considered further.

Of course it’s not old news, it’s current news, the decision hasn’t been made, it’s due in Q1. Locals are against it, it could well be denied and the share price tank. It’s a pure gamble.

You are just reposting old news. There is the rule of law and Peru is not a jungle. IMO, at the end of the day, there will certainly be compromises with local communities.
