Thanks everyone for your views on the proposed splitting of the thread.

There's 4 voting up the post that contains the proposal and then a range of views incl 2 saying don't do it or words to that effect, to X-eyed's valued post but saying it can't be done, to a couple slightly negative. So no clear direction given.

In spite of this I think a change is well overdue here so starting now:

This will be Thread A - the HOC basics thread.

Thread B - the traders thread for those who wish to engage in a running commentary of the sp, engage in calling the company a dog which it clearly isn't, misrepresenting opinions as fact, predicting the next move of gold/silver, predicting next week's prices, year end prices, next year prices etc. eg

stevea171,

Why do you think that opening a second thread would make any difference? Would the continuous posters actually move there? Surely their objective, or one of them, is to be heard by, ie subject their views on, the longer-termers? So why would they move in any case?

I think you run a very good, well-balanced, thread covering a wide spectrum of views, including third-party reports, etc. Personally, I use the Filter button, sometimes liberally. I know that adds to clutter but it also saves reading a lot of waffle. I'm glad you don't use your Ban prerogative which in my view tends to generate a lot of angst.

Regards,
c

Perhaps sentiment is turning now and we investors in HOC will have a good week next week? Seems like the positive close yesterday in precious metals might just be a sign. I certainly hope so. This BB needs some "love" ;-) Not quite sure HOC is a "dog" as someone said the other day. Sure volatile but it is a FTSE 250 company that just provided a good update and also just announced it is free to work on the Pablo vein. Their prospecting still continues as do their joint ventures. With precious metals holding their ground that all looks positive to me.

This is also of interest IMO:

This same signal has just registered again. This is the only other signal that has appeared since the absolute bottom for the metals complex in January 2016. This suggests that the entire precious metals sector is currently forming a low of similar importance as the early 2016 low.

In general, the most speculative portion of the industry attracts those investors who are looking for huge gains in a relatively short amount of time. Due to this nature, these investors are prone to extreme swings in sentiment, much more so that long-term gold bullion holders.

It is all down to sentiment as is clearly visible here. Perhaps that is about to change?
