17/1/2005 08:28 | 11th (intrigued to know how many luxury brands there are)? Did they say what % of market share? | factsonly
14/1/2005 09:48 | Small piece on Hill Station in this week's Marketing magazine. Main bits are... "Hill Sation Ice Cream has hired its first ad agency, Miles Calcraft Briginshaw Duffy, to handle an £800,000 brief as it plans a major brand drive this year. ...plans to increase distribution significantly this year. ...sales grew 20% in year to April 04, making it the 11th bestselling luxury ice cream..." There is an online version at brandrepublic.com, but it is a subscription site. | dvda

12/1/2005 23:45 | lol, I think HLL actually probably already has a niche (or two) in mind but appears to be building up shelf space before their spring/summer marketing campaign. | factsonly
12/1/2005 13:12 | I'm licked. Have sold out except for a sentimental peppercorn holding. Good luck Hill Station; please sort out the marketing and relations with major retailers. Also, identify a viable niche where you can tap a different market to B&J's H-dazs etcc who have justifiably sown up the existing matket. Don't attempt (unsuccessfully) to beat them at their game; launch your own market. E.g. typically Indian and Chinese restaurants have lousy dessert lists that would die for a quality range of unusual but complementary ice creams such as your cardamon or lychee ot coriander or refreshing sorbets. Bon chance! | spaceparallax
11/1/2005 18:22 | Pretty solid selling today (the shares that is - I am not sure they are actually selling the ice cream). | haystack
09/1/2005 17:53 | I went into my local large Sainsbury yesterday and found that it did not sell Hill Station at all. I wonder if Hill Station are actually selling much Ice Cream. | haystack
05/1/2005 23:20 | Agincourt You need to read more about Apserger's Syndrome. As usual your grasp of the subject is somewhat limited. I suppose the only job you could manage was Accountant. Just a bit of adding up now and again was probably not too taxing. | haystack
05/1/2005 23:15 | Haystack Bored with your Aspergic rubbish. I have no more time for you. Bye bye haystack. | agincourt
05/1/2005 23:11 | Agincourt It is interesting that you display a poor use of logic in you assertion that I am also Scumdog. There is absolutely no evidence that it is so. In fact it is not the case. Do you use logic in a similar manner to choose the stocks that you invest in? | haystack
05/1/2005 22:35 | Scumdog = Haystack Anyway - I've no time for this Haystack rubbish . Just yet more of his Aspergic nonsense. | agincourt
05/1/2005 21:41 | Scumdog - 5 Jan'05 - 21:39 - 1 of 1 Thanks Haystack. Just what is up with Agincourt??? Unbelievably sensitive or what? I only stated that there was no Hill Station for sale in the local Tesco - and that's a fact - not a ramp or de-ramp! | haystack
05/1/2005 21:34 | Scumdog If you want to post on this thread then post your comment here and I can repost it on this thread | haystack
05/1/2005 21:29 | Haystack - Can't be bothered with your alias Scumdog thanks. | agincourt
05/1/2005 14:10 | My local Sainsbury's stocks it and has done for a couple of years (maybe more). Same goes for my local Tesco. | dvda
05/1/2005 13:56 | they do sell it in their shops but it hasnt been on the online list as of yet...I always keep an eye out for it | hooya
05/1/2005 13:53 | It is interesting that Hill Station does not appear to be listed at all on the Sainsbury web site. Is it the case that they don't sell it in their shops either? | haystack
05/1/2005 13:09 | couldnt get any Hill Station so tried Black and Green's Chocolate. Nothing to do with comparing it with H & S but you have to try it. imo. Thick and quite rich ice cream if you like that sort of thing | hooya
05/1/2005 12:04 | just a few of the other brands they have to compete visually with links didnt work but heres an link to the online shopping at Sainsbugs | hooya
05/1/2005 11:54 | Have to agree with you about the containers....the image doesnt really support the "top end of the market" image imo. I've seen supermarket own brands in a much more sophisticated colour and design than that of Hill Station. Think they might need a branding consultant when devising their marketing plan imo. | hooya
05/1/2005 11:49 | Gentlemen (I use the term advisedly!), please could we maintain a constructive approach? I welcome positive and negative feedback on the thread, but please lets keep things meaningful. I am torn over this share, having researched the Company and purchased; unfortunately, seeing the limited availability and tasting the product have left me in two minds. The product is good, but so are many key rivals; I would love to see HLL succeed, but firmly believe that this can only be via strong promotion of a niche product. Also, I am a little concerned about the visual impact of the containers, which are relatively bland when compared with key rivals. | spaceparallax
04/1/2005 23:35 | Poor Haystack, getting all upset over the very thought of an increase in the share price. LOL! | oswd
04/1/2005 23:14 | oswd You seem to be crazy enough now to buy a stock like Hill Station. | haystack |
