12/9/2018 19:27 | Russian Finance Ministry is considering complete abolition of value added tax (VAT) on gold. At the moment citizens buying gold in the bank are obliged to pay VAT, which is now 18 percent, and will be increased to 20 percent starting next year. At the same time, when selling ingots, the bank is not returning VAT. It's been recalled after the VAT on gold was canceled in Kazakhstan, the demand for it from the population has grown enormously. | loganair
12/9/2018 19:21 | Just for general info: I see that the price of Urals Oil is and has been trading around the $77 per barrel which is excellent news for the Russian Government budget and all this oil and gas is bringing Russia in truck loads of dollars and euros. | loganair
12/9/2018 18:46 | Yes, ken, STOB also accelerated into the close. I'm also a holder and sitting tight on those too at the moment having bought quite heavily at recent lows (like here). | woodhawk
12/9/2018 17:46 | Of course you're right, Fizzy. A 9.23% gain in 3 days is excellent work if you can get it. Well done! I've found I've been a little too rash in my profit taking lately, so I'm seeing if a more measured view will pay dividends (no pun intended) in the slightly longer term. | woodhawk
12/9/2018 17:17 | Good finish. A technical rerate tomorrow to 136p and then with some luck perhaps today's momentum seen across other shares will persist and get us back to 142p (and beyond) before long. | casual47
12/9/2018 13:18 | Nice £101.5k purchase at 141.1p | casual47
12/9/2018 12:52 | The fact that POG in roubles is holding up (near year high) and a big chunk of their expenditure is in roubles complicates the picture somewhat. I would say HGM is better hedged than most gold miners against a drop in US dollar POG. | casual47
12/9/2018 12:47 | Thank you loganair. Why do you think that gold might fall further? Or is this a gut feeling? If is does it might well affect the HGM share price I have read recently that both Russia and China have increased their gold reserves substantially but the dollar rules supreme doesn't it? | tymedici
12/9/2018 12:45 | Lots of blue around, even Centamin powering ahead. Surely HGM should get a wee boost on the day before ex-divi? | casual47
12/9/2018 11:49 | A quick summing up of HGM as a company: I think HGM is one of the best run gold miners, has one of the lowest price of gold production and has low cost mines in the pipe line. HGM communication with their share holders is good and as share holders we know what the prospects are for HGM over the next 10 to 15 years are. I would not be at all surprise to see the price of gold decline further and at some point hit $1,100 per oz. | loganair
12/9/2018 10:17 | Should perk up. Most of the volume yesterday went through in the afternoon. That's a very strong 140p resistance. | casual47
12/9/2018 09:54 | Why would anyone sell today. | borisjohnsonshair
11/9/2018 17:13 | Fingers crossed for tomorrow! | casual47
11/9/2018 16:34 | Nearly there Casual :-) | stevedaytrader
11/9/2018 14:39 | Some good volume coming through, should set us up for a break through 140p? | casual47
11/9/2018 14:32 | Looks like old is about to start its next leg down. | 11_percent
11/9/2018 14:29 | @Casual "Politically and arithmetically (HoC-wise) the Michael Gove approach is likely to be the successful one." Agreed. That's because most of HoC are Remainers, don't want Brexit. A softly slowly get minimum done now, Ie Bino, wont see any incremental change after either. It is a stitch up to prevent us leaving EU.To overturn a democratic vote before it has even been implemented. It wont end well for these treacherous MPs come next GE that I am sure of. | fangorn2

11/9/2018 14:23 | TM,Crazy to sell now.IMHO hold take the dividend.HGM will be 150-160p around Xmas & New year. | garycook
11/9/2018 14:06 | GC Thanks for your correction. I can now see that I misread my diary and lost a day. Since my post I notice that the share price has risen and is currently hovering around 139. The gold price is not helping I notice. I might sell half tomorrow with a view to buying back. Then perhaps I will be half wrong and half right. On the other hand the share price is already quite low....What a dilemma. | tymedici
11/9/2018 12:44 | GC it has to drop at midnight by the divi amount - i agree though it sometimes bounces fast | stevedaytrader
11/9/2018 12:11 | Fangs, Brexit will happen. The fight now is just over the pace of it. E.g. Steve Baker wants as clear a cut agreed this side of Brexit D-Day. Michael Gove, being the Machiavellian that he is, is 100% on board of "get minimum done now, then do more incrementally over the next 2-5 years". Politically and arithmetically (HoC-wise) the Michael Gove approach is likely to be the successful one. | casual47 |
