Not entirely surprising given the recent announcements, but how much of this is already in the price? Most of it I suspect.

I think the time for a speculative top up is fast approaching.

No offence but what do you expect from speculative penny stocks? Grsphene is undoubtedly the future, and those who invest in graphite/grsphene companies both home and abroad will be rewarded handsomely in my opinion. The issue is knowing which companies will be sucessful and getting the timing right. It could take off in a year, 5 years or 20 years... simply put nobody knows. In terms of futuristic stuff like bendy mobile phones and such we'll be long dead. But in terms of what we will see in our lifetime i expect to see adding graphene into existing products like paints, inks, concrete etc.

As I have said some time ago this is an overhyped over valued sector. The sale is probably the max the board allowed him or the mm were willing to take. They will not raise cash above 5p a share...if that. Remember he took 120k cash out of the original float proceeds. ...tells you all you need to know.

For the sake of accuracy, only 1 director, formerly CEO, Ray Gibbs sold 38,233 shares 28th Sept at a price of 40.5p. However, he had bought 8,333 in the November placing at 120p and his current holding now stands at 456,453.

From the 2017 report & Accounts:

Ray Gibbs 486,353 2.48%
Roger Smith 288,455 1.47%
John Knowles 155,464 0.79%
Roger Humm 34,709 0.18%
Matthew Wood 9,821 0.05%

It was a bit of a surprise to see Ray Gibbs sell a few at these depressed prices, but I suppose he had just lost the top job. At least the sale didn't come with a platitudinous excuse, which is often the case with director sales. I wonder now how long he will stay on the BOD?

For investors wanting an quick intro to the new Executive Chairman, David Banks, there is a recent video here, where he features:

Regarding the recent comments on Graphite miners which are also wannabe Graphene producers, there are some duffers, but it really does depend on the quality of the Graphite in the ground (Sri Lanka graphite is probably the best).

Take a look at Elcora Resources and First Graphene Resources

Elcora are quoted on the US and Canadian markets (Market cap around £9m), they have the ability to produce good quality graphene and they have entered into a strategic partnership with Lockheed Martin on Li-Ion Anode Technology

First Graphene Resources are quoted on the Aussie market (market cap around £35m) and they are currently exploring the possibility of listing on AIM:

They produce various grades of graphene and micrographite and have a variety of collaborations on the go with industry and academia

After he sold, a few days later I think, there was a large order placed for versarien, something like 100k, which roughly matches his order size when he sold. I could be wrong but....

The Ray Gibbs sale has certainly spooked the market in these shares. Haydale obviously need substantial orders for the share price to recover before the obligatory fund raising that will be needed otherwise.

Waste of time investing in a graphite mining company. None of them is going to make good money - there are too many of them and a glut of the stuff - and many of them don't produce grades good enough to become part of the graphene boom. The idea they they are the "pick and shovel" end of the industry and bound to benefit from graphene growth is a myth. Some of those miners whose share price has climbed on this myth will sink back down. Don't take my word - read the global surveys and draw your own conclusions.

My pleasure.

Flinders are in fact on the ASX, but the project is in Sweden, so have followed them for that, but the cost of production is against them.

edit,

Flinders are now called Leading Edge Metals

I don't think there is one to be honest, not in production anyway.

Canada has a few, but can't remember one in production off the top of my head, Flinders was mothballed awaiting higher prices.

Maybe not then,,though I like the idea. There is an Aussie company with a mine in Madagascar but don't really fancy that..so was looking for UK quoted.

The world is currently awash with companies buying up disused old graphite mines intending to reopen them and excitedly inviting investors to buy. Many of those mines are disused for a reason - poor quality low grade material. There is no shortage of the stuff.
