I like it, seems like others do too. |
Nudging up any reason? |
The SMP news must be aiding sentiment. |
Thanks for the posts. If you're a specialist in the sector or company, clearly have more insight than us short termers who get diluted across so many different shares. There are always alot of lurkers on the boards too who pop up from time to time to provide good insight.
Noted more decent demand in the background here recently. Originally noted the 500k at 128.25p. There was also FTSE re-weight demand in the closing auction on Friday afternoon of 800k (highly anomalous for HWG) at 131p and yesterday buyers got the mop out and took blocks of 250k, 770k as well as some delayed prints of 321k and 327.
A break of 132p on the upside is what would be nice here. It keeps the bullish trend going to close the gap from pre-covid highs.
All imo DYOR |
1tx,
Spot on
They weren't shy in pushing their ESG credentials yesterday. A couple of decent buyers around, subsequent to the presentation. |
Nicely put 1tx thank you |
Harworth is 65% owned by three shareholders. These being 25% by Nick Roditi & Family (London & Amsterdam Trust),he is billionaire former associate of George Soros;15% by Peel Group/John Whittaker and 25% by UK Coal Miners Pension Fund.Harworth is of course the old UK Coal/RJB Mining which was refinanced by Peel and then shareholders in association with its pension fund around 8 years ago & over the subsequent 2 or 3 years by 3 or so fundings and morphed into Coalfield Resources, then Harworth Estates to present Harworth Group.Peel sold down its investment largely due to problems in other parts of its property empire (particularly Intu) with Roditi directly and indirectly picking up shares over the last couple of years.I have been a shareholder for this time. The shares are very cheap in my opinion in fact they were at this price 5 years ago and today it is a much better company with a much more balanced portfolio. The problem I think is that most private investors are going for REITs which offer a higher yield as they are investing in existing properties rather than being a developer and open ended property funds are strapped for cash as they are facing redemptions so are not buying. If you are investing you may need to take a long term view. But I have made over 300% capital gain here over the period I have held, but next to nothing in income but over the years the income element will increase as the property portfolio is built up as development land is sold. |
I love boring.
I think 140p would be low balling yourself, unless you can find a better place for your money.
The new CEO is lobbing in cash in stages - £40k lots add up. She's cost averaging!
The company has an option to desmonstrate low gearing and stable financial and share price performance. It is raises dividends steadily then it will attract the attract of institutional buyers......need to get above the £500m threshold for extra effect. |
Excellent presentation today, which may have provoked that buyer. |
500k gone through at 128.25p - is that enough for another leg up or does it fall back abit here?
128p and 128.5p look well guarded at the moment preventing the break higher.
You want to get excited about the director buying here today but have to apply the same principles across the board and call them piddly with no real signal.
Still, at least HWG does go to show that some of the boring ones can be the best.
An exit at 140p or way too bullish?
All imo DYOR |
Solid results.
Low debt, lots of cash, increased NAV 25% abouve share price and growing dividend.....despite covid. |
What's with the spread? big for a £400m company |
Suddenly became well bid in the last hour of play.
It's a great story, but I would take 150p as we stand. |
I'll go for a takeover or MBO |
Cheeky price action.....?takeover or MBO in the offing. |

I think the newer assets yielding nicely too should also underpin the divident which should attract the other type of investor! |
Results due on 16th March. Land prices have risen during the last year due to the house price inflation. Tangible book value likely to have increased considerably from 143.8p last year.It should be well above 170p now. It was trading above it's book value befor the pendamic and hopefully it will do so again. I'm hoping for the share price to jump when they release the results in less tna three weeks time. . |
