14/2/2021 11:46 | Given how the UK government has turned anti-business and free markets this past year, it's looking like a fabulous decision by the Hansa board.
I also see a potential major upturn in commodities, so Brazilian shipping will do well. Given the 30% discount, this screams buy. Especially as Britons realise they need to get more of their capital outside the UK. | bitgold
21/10/2020 18:15 | Joined in today. Hopefully levelled out at worse. Share price has been ok since April so might pick up in a Santa Rally. | mach100
13/2/2020 15:33 | Ah right, thanks for the reply, appreciated. | essentialinvestor
12/2/2020 22:53 | Were IHT an issue for the Salomons, you've got nearly 300p of assets valued for IHT purposes at 200p. | coolen
12/2/2020 13:23 | Why the buying is what I'm wondering?. | essentialinvestor
11/2/2020 19:55 | At 190p that's £1.235m to add to his recent share buying splurge:
On 07 February 2020, Hansa Investment Company Limited (the "Company") was notified that William Salomon, Director of the Company, had acquired an interest in the share capital of the Company shares. Following this purchase of 650,000 'A' ordinary shares, his total interest in the Company is 10,864,345 ordinary shares and 1,570,500 'A' ordinary shares. | rambutan2

23/1/2020 08:17 | SL. Stating the obvious perhaps but yes, the large discount creates the potential for the shares to be a buy. But if that discount persists you would also be selling at a large discount. I first tried to profit from a 30% Hansa discount in the early 2000s but it’s now even higher. I’m not convinced the company is fun for my benefit and it’s been a long term underperformer in my portfolio. There are times I’ve topped up, top sliced, gone all in and all out, to little avail. I’ve hung around in the hope of something strategic occurring to crystallise value but it’s evidently not in the Salomon interests, at least not in the current generations interest. I won’t be around for the next generation. Just saying..... | steve3sandal
23/1/2020 07:54 | Ram have you invested into the hansa fund, looks good but large discount and 5 Yr performance aren't that good.
Have a look at buffettology fund. Higher risk accepted. | muffster
23/1/2020 07:43 | Considering the large NAV discount to the current share price are the shares a buy ….they must be surely ? | solarno lopez

21/1/2020 19:18 | Well, post Christmas I bought in at a 35% discount, as was one of the very few trusts not to shrink its discount post election. It should be fairly defensive, so happy to park some money in it. Also noted that Mr Salomon had been buying quite big.
Gets a supportive para in this report:

07/8/2019 19:11 | Good spot. Great stewardship, not.
Watchlist candidate might just get more interesting if it gets the kicking they deserve. Diarised for 29th. Cayzer family might not be bothered about share price and more bothered about Corbyn, but that looks like such old news now. Dearie me. | steve3sandal
07/8/2019 18:43 | Great idea board, that’ll help bring the discount in!
