The worst would seem to be over, but they still need asset sales and j/v partners for some asset developments. Perhaps some of the french assets will be next to go.

Consensus broker forecasts were for a significant loss this year of around £930m.

So a £376m loss in the first half, mainly from further writedowns, an approximate £28m make whole cost in bond redemptions and some losses on asset sales looks to be ahead of expectations.

I would expect some upward revisions in broker views for the current year.

I would have thought a fairly large asset writedown might be on the cards, but these are so cheap already it might not make a difference

British property development company Hammerson have recently announced that they will be selling one of the most iconic buildings in Milton Keynes.

Hammerson has put forwards plans to sell the building, describing the site as a "brownfield redevelopment opportunity" with the potential to construct 450 flats.

It is a difficult sector for years to overcome, as there are non-paying issues from the irresponsible shark tenants in its remaining portfolio. I would say bye-bye to this share for at least 2- 3 years as the earth has yet to make a proper spin after the pandemic!

The extension applies to all businesses, but the new measures that will be introduced by primary legislation will only cover those impacted by closures.

AEWU has won its legal case for rent arrears against sports direct and mecca bingo, who have paid the arrears in full.

It may have some read across to HMSO.
